Sometimes it seems that’s there’s only bad news, but remember there is always good news too–it just takes a little searching. This is my attempt to find it and share it. Just click the links to read the stories–I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
1. Heart-shaped geode found by miners in Uruguay. Can you imagine breaking open a rock and seeing such a stunning site? It’s like God sent these two gentlemen an early Valentine. My older son loves amethyst, but I’m guessing the going rate on this one is WAY out of my price range.
2. Police Officer Lends Pays For Groceries of Two Women Accused of Shoplifting. Five days before Christmas, Officer Matt Lima was called to a local Stop & Shop for a reported shoplifting. Two women had purchased some items and taken several others. Upon interviewing the women, it was discovered that they had fallen on hard times and were simply trying to provide a nice Christmas dinner for their children. Officer Lima decided to pay for the groceries instead of charging them with a crime. I love his generous heart!
3. Pastor Who’s Bike Got Stolen Responds By Starting a Free Bicycle Repair Service For Those in Need. Pastor Robbie Pruitt was pretty upset when his mountain bike was stolen last fall. After struggling to find a replacement for it, it occurred to him that maybe the pandemic had caused the shortage of bikes and perhaps the person that took his–really needed it. So, he decided to start helping others by repairing older bikes for free and also taking donations of bikes so that he can give them to families in need. What a cool thing to do!
4. Student Receives Financial Assistance From Prison Inmates For His Highschool Tuition. Sy Newson Green’s parents fell on some really hard times recently and couldn’t afford to pay for their son’s high school tuition. A group of inmates at California’s Soledad Prison heard about him and pooled their income and helped raise $32000 so he could continue his education. What a generous gift!
5. There are Potentially 300 Million Habitable Planets in the Milky Way. Have you been considering moving lately? How about to a new planet? Apparently NASA scientists are studying potential options of some that have a light source similar to our sun. Oh sure they’re about 20-30 light years away, but at least there appears to be some choices. You might not want to pack your bags and fuel up your spaceship just yet–since it’s still in the “supposing” stage. But, just to think about and imagine the possibilities is exciting.
What good things have you heard about this week? Feel free to share anything you find and remember–keep smiling!
