Sometimes it seems that’s there’s only bad news, but remember there is always good news too–it just takes a little searching. This is my attempt to find it and share it. Just click the links to read the stories–I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
1. World’s First Home Hydrogen Battery Powers Your House for 3 Days, is Recyclable and Not a Fire Risk. How cool is this? A startup company out of Australia called LAVO has developed a battery that can power your whole house for 3 days. Texans would be particularly appreciative of this device right about now.
2. Alex Trebek’s ‘Jeopardy’ Wardrobe is Dressing People Who Need it Most. When Alex Trebeck lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last year, he left behind not only a legion of fans, but also a legacy of philanthropy. His son, Mathew, decided that a large portion of his Dad’s wardrobe of suits, ties, and shirts that he wore on air should be donated to The Doe Fund. It is an organization that helps those in need get jobs and provides other social services. What an amazing thing to do. I’m sure Alex Trebek would be very proud of his son for carrying on his legacy of helping others.
3. Archeologists in Egypt have Unearthed the World’s Oldest Beer Factory. Move over Coors, ancient Egypt had quite the set up over 5000 years ago for making beer for royal rituals. It is thought to have been able to produce 5000 gallons of beer in a single batch. Now, that’s a party.
4. Incredible Video of the Northern Lights in Canada. The video taken by Dre Erwin from his home in Pinehouse Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada is amazing. I’ve always had a fascination with these mystical looking lights and would love to some day see them in person. Thank you Dre for giving us a fantastic glimpse of this beauty.
5.NASA’s Mars Rover ‘Perseverance’ Successfully Touches Down on the Red Planet. After what they are calling “seven minutes of terror”, the rover successfully landed and will spend the next 2 years roaming around the planet looking for ancient microbial life and hopefully collecting some samples to send back to earth. I LOVE things like this so much! How exciting to be searching and exploring a place so distant and far away.
What good things have you heard about this week? Feel free to share anything you find and remember–keep smiling!
