Sometimes it seems that’s there’s only bad news, but remember there is always good news too–it just takes a little searching. This is my attempt to find it and share it. Just click the links to read the stories–I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
1.Strangers Shelter Stranded Driver For 5 Days During Texas Cold Snap. Chelsea Timmons was out making grocery deliveries for her job at H.E.B. A winter storm that hit Texas caused her to get stuck in a customer’s driveway. It became clear that she couldn’t get her car moving and the weather was turning worse, so the owners of the home Nina Richardson and Doug Condon offered to let her stay with them. She ended up being in their home for 5 days and now is considered part of their family. I love this couple’s amazing hospitality!
2. The Public Gave Fun Names to 50 Snowplows in Scotland. Scotland held a public drive to name more that 50 plowing trucks responsible for keeping roads safe. “Lord Coldemort”, “Snowcially Distanced”, “Sleetwood Mac” and many others are out on the roads now–you can even track where each truck is. Apparently, next year they plan to come up with artwork appropriate for each named truck. How fun is this?
3.UK Choir Sings a Lullaby to 5 Year Old in US to Help Her Sleep. Roslyn Kane suffers from night terrors. Her Dad found that she loved a British choir group called Bristol Man Chorus. When he reached out to them, they not only wrote her a lullaby, but sang it to her via zoom. What a wonderful gesture! I hope you have sweet dreams now, Roslyn.
4. Amazing Origami Art Made From Single Sheets of Paper. Juho Könkkölä began folding origami models when he was just eight years old. He makes paper characters inspired from history, folk tales, books, movies, mythologies, and more. Every piece of art he makes is folded from a single square sheet of paper—and there’s never any cutting involved. His work is incredible!
5. Newborn Calf and a Collie Become BFF’s During Freezing Temperatures. When a newborn calf was born during a negative 58 degree cold snap on a Saskatchewan farm, owner Bonnie Potoroka knew chances of survival weren’t good. She moved the calf to a heated shop and during the next several days, her Collie, Mickey enjoyed cuddling up with the calf. The two are inseparable now. How cute and sweet!
What good things have you heard about this week? Feel free to share anything you find and remember–keep smiling!
