Sometimes it seems that’s there’s only bad news, but remember there is always good news too–it just takes a little searching. This is my attempt to find it and share it. Just click the links to read the stories–I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
1.Penguin Leaps Into a Tour Boat to Avoid Being Eaten By Killer Whales. Tourists got the show of their lives as they watched nature unfold before them. A penguin (Jimmy–as one of the tourist named him) was swimming for his life to avoid being an afternoon snack to a pack of killer whales. Twice he attempts to jump onto the tourist boat before he finally leapt to safety. Fly Jimmy! Fly! The video is awesome.
2. Wife’s Humorous Obituary For Her Late Husband Goes Viral. Crystal Hauser’s husband of 13 years lost a 2 year battle with cancer. He was known for his quirky sense of humor, so she wrote an obituary that fit him perfectly. Folks on the internet loved it so much that it went viral. I grieve for this woman and the pain of her loss, but I truly love that she has found laughter through her tears.
3. Stray Dog Kept Sneaking into a Dollar Store For a Stuffed Unicorn. This is, by far, my favorite story. A stray dog in North Caroline kept sneaking into a Dollar Store and went for the same purpled stuffed unicorn each time. The store manager called animal control. So officer Samantha Lane picked up the sneaky little thief, but decided to purchased the object of his affection to take with him to the shelter. Sisu, as he has been named by the shelter, is now awaiting to be adopted and has many potential new homes wanting to take in him–and his new unicorn too.
4. Woman Uses Old Tires and Turns Them Into Beautiful Playgrounds. A nonprofit in India called Anthill Creations that is run by Poonja Rai has found a wonderful use for the over 100 million tires that are are thrown away annually–they are using them to build playgrounds for schools that need them. They paint them and fashion them into wonderful creations. I want to go play!
5. NASA Confirmation: Earth is Safe From Asteroid for 100 years. 99942 Apophis—which was discovered in 2004—had been identified as one of the most hazardous asteroids that could impact the planet. Apparently it made a fly by last mont–coming within 10 miles from earth–and scientists took the opportunity to study it’s orbit a little more closely. The fear that it could crash into earth in 2068 is now no longer a concern. Whew! I’m so glad to know that there was something out there absolutely terrifying, that I no longer need to be terrified of.
What good things have you heard about this week? Feel free to share anything you find and remember–keep smiling!
