When last we checked in on the Camper Fixer Upper progress–we were left on a cliff hanger….the propane tank and the bumper. Did the propane tank blow up? Did the bumper fall off causing everything to come crashing down? These are the days of my life. (cue: swell of over the top orchestra music paired with scenes of previous episodes–Super Rockstar slowly turning the valve on the propane tank as I look on in anxiety holding back an impending scream. Pan to a view of the bumper barely hanging on by a thread as bits of rusty dust fall to the ground).
Well, we’re still here. No blowing up–yet. That’s good news, right? We had a good friend weld the bumper back on so it is nice and solid. Our friend told Super Rockstar “It’s as solid as a …..well, it’s not really important how he put it–but, suffice it to say–it’s ready to go. Yep. All good there.
To be honest this past couple of weeks have been pretty meh. We are in a bit of a holding pattern. I am hard at work behind the scenes making new covers for the cushions and I can’t wait to show you the finished product. It’s just taking SO MUCH longer than I hoped it would. I am reminded each and every time I take on a sewing project that this is why I do not sew for a living. But, I’ll give you the whole drama of that next time.
In the mean time–we really are just waiting. For what –I’m not sure. We have another friend in the RV repair business who has informed us that RV places won’t do inspections or repairs on models as old as ours. That’s great–because you know it’s the newest models that you really need to be careful with (eye roll). He has given Super Rockstar some advise on parts to buy to update our propane tank valve and what type of battery we need. But, we are both absolutely terrified of doing any of that part ourselves. Anything having to do with gas scares me to death. AND it scares me to death to have Super Rockstar working with any of that. So, we are in a scared to death waiting pattern. We are hoping for someone to come to our rescue to help us that is not going to cost us a small fortune OR that God miraculously gives one or both of the us the courage and ability to do the work ourselves.
“This is about as exciting as watching paint dry” as my Dad would say.
I promise next time will be more newsy and hopefully include some photos. Until then–here’s a teaser:
