A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.A week of rest.–This week was everything I was hoping it would be. After such a whirlwind month of March– with blizzards, birthdays and spring break, it was so nice to have a “normal” week. The boys were at school (only 2 calls from the principals office), Super Rockstar was at work (and we got to have our weekly lunch date), and I got to get our home back in order, rest, read, and go for my beloved hikes.
2.Flag Football. Spring sports are beginning in our neck of the woods. Our boys like to play flag foot ball and Super Rockstar likes (?) to coach. They had their first practice this week. It’s a bit like herding cats attempting to persuade a group of 9-12 year old’s to listen and follow instructions. Most all of them believe they’re star players and don’t need coaching, so it takes a bit of ego trimming each season to help them understand how much they don’t know yet. But, Super Rockstar always does a great job encouraging, supporting and making sure each player improves in the few weeks he gets to coach them.
3.Marry Poppins Returns. Everyone I talked to that had seen this movie used the exact same word–delightful. I concur. It is absolutely delightful. I had a hard time talking our boys into watching it, but since there weren’t any new blow em up, shoot em out action movies for family movie night, they agreed to give this one a try. They LOVED it. We all did. There were wonderful new songs, many nods to the original with even a couple of appearances from former characters. Your whole family will enjoy this movie.
4.Bursts of color popping up everywhere. I have MANY favorite times of year and spring is no exception. The flowers starting to bloom are nice and all (although I could do without the allergies they cause), but what I’m on the hunt for are THESE:
Garage and Yard Sale signs. I absolutely LOVE rooting through others “trash” in search of my own personal treasure. Keep a lookout for an upcoming post I’ll share with tips on how to have your own successful sale.
5.A Book series I LOVE. A few years ago, I stumbled across a book series that I absolutely fell in love with. The first book is called “One For the Money” by Janet Evanovich. If you like light hearted, mystery, and intrigue with a whole lot of comedy and memorable characters that you will fall in love with–this is your series. I just finished “Look Alive Twenty-Five”. Yep–there are now 25 books in what are called the Stephanie Plum series. They are perfect for a summer binge reading.
