A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A wonderful mountain getaway. For our last summer break hurrah, we rented a cabin for a few days. It was GLORIOUS! It was a perfect mountain getaway–within a quick drive to some great fishing and also close to our most favoritist mountain town, Breckenridge. My parents were able to join and we had an absolute blast. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck each morning drinking coffee and chatting, going fishing , visiting the Breckenridge troll, doing some shopping and just loving the peaceful quiet of the mountains. We all came home wishing we could buy our own cabin some day. Sigh.
2. Back to school. It’s the first week of August. It’s still summer. And yes–in our school district– we started school. I complain every. single. year. And every year they try to convince me that “according to their parent polls–the majority of parents prefer the earlier start”. We get a fall break. That’s the bonus, you see. Uh huh. Right. I have yet to meet a parent that is excited about missing two weeks of summer–you know when our weather actually starts to FEEL like summer, so we can have a fall break. When it’s cold. And you can’t do anything outside. But, I digress.
It was an emotional start this year. This is the first year of high school for Morgan. He’s not loving his new school much and is struggling a lot. Prayers would not be wasted on him. This is also the first year the boys are not at the same school. I don’t think I had an accurate grasp on how much time I would be spending taking them to and picking them up from two different schools. With car pools. With tons of anxious parents flitting about. By the time we get home, my patience level is GONE and I’m about ready to throw down with whomever crosses my path. The first week is always a little chaotic, so I’m hoping that things will settle down soon. The house sure is awfully quiet now. Barney can’t seem to tear himself away from the window–searching for his boys.
3. A fundraiser gig. SofaKillers got to play a really cool gig that raised money for the Homefront Military Network. The mission of HFMN is to “help service members, veterans and their families navigate support systems through web-based and call-in information and assistance to find the services that are the best fit, and follow alongside these individuals every step of the way”. Super Rockstar even got to be interviewed on one of our local news stations to promote the event. It was held at Boot Barn Hall and hundreds of folks came to dance the night away and give to this great organization.
4. What we watched. Just click the link to read reviews of a TV series and a couple of movies we watched.
5. My favorite memes of the week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Carole! Glad you got some good giggles. Breckenridge is so awesome–sometimes a little crowded, but a really cool mountain town with great shops and restaurants. And the scenery is GORGEOUS! I hope you get to visit soon. Thank you for your prayers. They are precious to me!!
Oh, Jennifer!! You made me chuckle and then you made me laugh out loud!!! Thank you for brightening up my day!!
Looks like y’all had a great time near Breckinridge! Haven’t been there yet, but hope to one of these days. As always, prayers for you and your family coming your way!! Carole 🥰💜🙏
