A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A LONG awaited answer to prayer. Super Rockstar has worked for a wonderful place for over 17 years now. As with all work situations there have been good times and bad. But, this past couple years has been particularly bad. Two years ago, his department began a restructure in which everyone was required to reapply for their jobs. It was an extremely stressful time and it became a little like musical chairs. No one knew when the music stopped if they would still have a place.
We did the only thing we knew to do. Pray. We prayed every day for the Lord to show us what he should do–should he stay? should he find a job elsewhere? We just didn’t know what the right answer was. Sometimes faith requires a lot of waiting, and boy did we do a lot of that. Through it all though, God was faithful to us. Every day, Super Rockstar showed up for work and every day God gave him new opportunities. At times, it was like a scene from Princess Bride: “Good night. Sleep Well. At most we could fire you in the morning.”
Finally, finally, FINALLY, God gave us a long awaited answer. Super Rockstar got a promotion and has some job security for the first time in I don’t remember when. To be honest, we were ready for whatever God answered–we had just been in the waiting stage for so long, we just wanted a definitive answer. I’m just so glad it was the one we were hoping for. We whooped. We hollered. And we praised our God in heaven for never leaving us or forsaking us. We are so grateful for all of our friends and family that prayed right along with us–my parents even bought him congratulatory cake. I’m just so very proud of him for toughing it out when things looked so bleak. Congratulations Super Rockstar!
2. Briarfest. Do you know what my favorite part of this year is? It’s that everything that was cancelled last year, is back on this year. One of our most favorite gigs that SofaKillers plays is Briarfest. It’s so much fun. There’s a carnival with rides, food trucks, and then the band goes on in the evening and everyone dances the night away. This year, the boys and I got there early so they could ride their favorite ride over and over and over. The weather was perfect and the guys put on a great show.
3. Flag Football begins. My boys started flag football and have played two games so far. They were kind of indecisive about whether or not they wanted to play this season and I’m so glad they decided to. Our first game, Morgan caught a touchdown pass right off the bat and Grayson caught the pass for the extra point. Our second game, Morgan scored three touchdowns and Grayson was snatching flags off opponents left and right. It’s been fun to watch how much they have improved over the years. Three years ago, we were usually yelling at them to pay attention and focus. Now we get to yell as we celebrate their achievements.
4. What We Watched. We’re gearing up for some new movies coming to theaters soon. The new James Bond comes out in two weeks, so we decided to re-watch all of the Daniel Craig series. Also, there will be a new Spiderman movie coming out soon, so we’re re-watching all the Spiderman movies with the boys. Just click the link to read our reviews of these oldies, but goodies.
5. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
