A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Halloween Traditions. We have several things that are a big part of our Halloween fun. First up is decorating pumpkin shaped cookies. Morgan and I tend to go for speed–just get it done. Grayson’s method is to put as much candy and sprinkles on each cookie whilst eating as much of the candy and sprinkles as possible. And Super Rockstar goes for creative masterpieces that no one can possibly come close to copying.
Next up was Pumpkin Carving. We always do this the night before Halloween while we watch The Nightmare Before Christmas. Once again–Morgan and I go for simple and quick. Grayson always has ideas that are impossible to execute (“I want it to look like Ghostbusters ghost trap that opens up on a motion detector”–or something like that)–he’ll usually opt for copying someone else’s idea, if what he has planned won’t work out. And Super Rockstar comes up with creative masterpieces that no one else can possibly come close to copying.
2. Trunk or Treat. Both of my boys schools offered trunk or treating this year, but we opted to only go to one. It was great–lots of fun costumes and creative trunk themes. Since my boys went as Ghostbuster characters this year–complete with proton packs and ghost traps–they got a lot of attention. Folks especially loved that they used their ghost traps to collect the candy.
3. Dart Wars. We love going to this place as often as possible. As a bonus for Halloween day–they offered a 50% off discount if you came in costume. Could it get any better? Shooting Nerf guns AND getting to wear a costume? My boys were in heaven.
4. Trick or Treating. Our neighborhood was awesome for trick or treating this year. Of course it was the coldest weather we’ve had yet (Halloween is always subzero temps. Always) and it was kind of misty and foggy–perfect for a spooky Halloween. The boys got WAY too much candy, but did a great job collecting our annual candy tax of Reese’s for me and Kit Kats/Twix for Super Rockstar.
5. What We Watched. We enjoyed a couple of Halloween movies as well as some we hadn’t seen before. Just click the link to read our reviews.
