A list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Dart Wars With My Boys. A couple of weeks ago, Super Rockstar had a gig–so I took the boys to Dart Wars. I’ve talked about this place numerous times and highly recommend it as a place to go have a great time. I have always been a spectator and not a participant, but this time I decided to give it a try. I will tell you the truth–out on the playing floor: it’s ridiculously loud (the DJ doesn’t seem to understand that mashing his mouth up to the microphone barking out instructions doesn’t help matters), I felt confused the entire time, and the Rival gun bullets HURT like the dickens. But, I also had fun and my boys, of course, loved it too.
2. Date Night. Super Rockstar and I went out for a fun date night last week. We started with a nice dinner at P.F. Changs–it’s been so long since we’ve dined here and I had forgotten how good it all is. I highly recommend. After, we found out that a local band Super Rockstar has been telling me about was playing at Abby’s Irish Pub. Wirewood Station has been playing around town for a few years now and everyone (including Super Rockstar) has been telling me how good they are. Wow! Is what I will tell you. They aren’t just good–they are AMAZING. Since it was a pub, they had a smaller set up (four of them on instruments and no drums), but their sound was huge. They all sing either lead at times or four part harmony–two on guitar, a fiddle player and a bass player. All of their music is very blue grassy, but they do mash ups of rock songs that are incredible. Now, we all know that SofaKillers is still my number one favorite band of all time (the lead singer’s pretty hot!), but Wirewood Station is a fun band to listen to. Get out and listen to some live music, folks!
3. Lots of Good News. This past month included me dealing with some health-related issues. I had a suspicious something that showed up on an ultra sound–so I had to have a minor procedure so my Doc could check it out. And then, a couple of weeks ago, Super Rockstar was playing basketball with Grayson and in an attempt to make a shot, he fell and hurt his arm really badly. After a week of it turning all sorts of interesting colors and not getting much better, he finally went to have it checked out. There’s a hairline fracture and his elbow was dislocated. Ugh! Yesterday, we both got really good news. My “something” turned out to be a nothing. Thank You Jesus! And Super Rockstar won’t have to have surgery–just physical therapy. Woo Hoo! Plus, as an extra bonus, Barney has finally finished his long laborious recovery from his torn ACL (12 weeks of no stairs and several physical therapy sessions). We got to take the baby gates down and he is allowed to reconvene his regularly scheduled program of napping anywhere in the house he wants to. We are SO grateful to have this chapter behind us. Thank you so much to all who have been praying for us.
