A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.The Birthday Boy #1. Morgan turned 15 this past week. Give me oxygen–I feel light-headed. How did this happen? One moment, I’m holding his tiny little hand and the next moment, he is a giant that towers over me and has a deep voice I barely recognize. I love this boy/man so much. He is the sweetest, kindest, caring, most thoughtful person. He has a fantastic sense of humor that comes out in sly moments, he can do just about any character voice (including the creepy Herbert the Pervert from Family Guy–his current favorite) and can Kazatsky kick like no one’s business. His current passions are wanting to create a stop action movie using his beloved Transformers (he’s currently working on the story and collecting the characters), he just got his hunting license and is looking forward to going on his first hunting trip later this year and he thinks he wants to be a commercial air line pilot.
2. Spring Break. We’ve had a longtime tradition of going to Fort Collins for Spring Break each year. I’m not sure how it started, but we like it for several reasons–they have great antique stores (which Super Rockstar and I love) and they have Fort Fun–an arcade/laser tag/go-carts/putt-putt place (which the boys love). To be honest, the boys would be happy anywhere as long as they can stay in a hotel with a swimming pool and hot tub. We stayed at a Hilton Homewood Suites–which we’ve enjoyed once before. They have a suite room available where the boys can have their own room and own beds, there’s a nice living room area, kitchenette and they include free breakfast. We were a little disappointed that the pool heater was broken at this one making for a very arctic swim time (think high mountain lake…in the winter), but the hot tub worked just fine. Fort Fun was a blast as usual. Last time we were here (pre-pandemic), Grayson was too young to drive his own go-cart, so he was especially thrilled to get to go by himself this time. Super Rockstar and I went a couple of times and then remembered–we’re adults. We have to drive and can drive any time we want to. And driving is not very fun. So, we left the boys to their racing and we played putt-putt instead.
3. Story Time. Super Rockstar has a long-time tradition of reading to the kids at a local school here in town for their annual Dr. Seuss celebration. The kids just LOVE him–he teaches them the correct sound a cow makes when he reads Mr. Brown Can Moo (Hint: It’s not “Moo”, city slicker). The looks on their faces when he demonstrates a very authentic cow sound is hysterical. And then he lets them teach him their favorite animal sounds.
4. Gig Night at The Coop. SofaKillers played at our favorite bar owner’s place this weekend–The Chicken Coop. Sherri and Art have been longtime friends and fans of SofaKillers. Each year, Sherri always schedules the guys to play for her birthday celebration. She had a 60’s theme this year and they were all decked out in their grooviest best. What a fun night–a packed dance floor and great music! The guys know how to shake their booties too–just check out the last video.
5. Movies and Shows to Watch. We let our boys watch the newest Fast and the Furious, Super Rockstar and I enjoyed the Frontier TV series and the new Halo Tv Series has started (Squeal!). Just click the link to read our reviews.
6. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
