A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Birthday Boy #2. My second born, Grayson, came into this world two weeks earlier than expected and he has had us on our toes ever since. I can’t believe he’s a teenager now. He lives life with a volume and zest that is contagious. Since it was his 13th birthday, we let him have a fun outing with friends to a newish place in town called Air City 360. They had a blast.
He always shrieks and jumps up and down with each gift he receives–his favorite being a newer Five Nights at Freddies video game that his brother gave him. We also decided it was time for him to have a phone. Beware, if he gets a hold of your number, you will receive an onslaught of emoji texts. Happy 13th Birthday, Grayson!
2. Grandma and Papa Visit. My parents come out every March to celebrate the boys’ birthdays. They give gifts, they take us out to dinner and this year my Mom brought her bike, so she and I enjoyed a GREAT ride around one of my favorite Black Forest trails. As a bonus, we got to see their KU Jayhawks make it the Men’s Basketball Championship (the following week they won the national championship in a nailbiter). Visits from Grandma and Papa are always enjoyable and always special.
3. Something New. Morgan has played flag football for several years now, but this year he aged out. So, it left us with a big question mark as to what spring sport he should try. Soccer has been on his mind for a while. I know nothing about soccer. Super Rockstar knows nothing about soccer. But, we decided–why not? I asked around and found a recreational league for him to join and he started practices last week. I was glad to find out that there are a few other kids on his team that have never played before either–so he’s not the only one learning. They had their first game and he did great. He played goalie the first half and then got to play both offense and defense during the second half. I had no idea how exciting it was to watch soccer and even though I don’t quite know all the rules yet–I’m learning too.
4. Movies and Shows to Watch. We loved going to see a couple of movies at the theater, a new to us one at home and a TV series for Super Rockstar and I. Just click the link to read our reviews.
5. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
