A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Skate City. This place has been a go to for both of my boys late elementary through middle school years. Their school always hosts a special discounted night and there is a contest for the “golden skate”–an award for the teacher with the most students to show up. Grayson’s 7th grade class showed up big time, but alas lost to a 5th grade teacher. Sigh. He had a great time–it’s just a really fun place to go burn some energy for a couple of hours.
2.A Spring Fire Pit. Spring in Colorado never seems to behave like it does in most areas. It’s a big tease–60’s and 70’s one day, only to dip down to 30’s and 40’s the next. And the wind. My goodness the wind is fierce. So, when a nice warmish, calm evening comes around–it’s nice to soak it in for a bit. My boys are growing up fast and life is getting busier and busier. It’s rare to just have a few moments to sit, talk and enjoy time with them.
3.Easter. We had an awesome Easter this year. The boys really enjoyed coloring eggs–taking their time and creating some nice ones. Morgan likes to soak them long and get nice deep colors–he’s the artist. Grayson takes on more of mad scientist approach–discovering what crazy colors he can create. He was thrilled when one of them looked kind of “camo-ish”.
On Easter morning they awaken to get their baskets–lots of candy and this year we splurged on some hover boards. It’s been fun to watch them NOT break their necks.
The Easter Bunny was alone this year for hiding eggs–since her sidekick was off doing a gig. So, the egg hunt was pretty easy. Only one not found and we discovered it a couple of days later (whew!).
And last but not least, we enjoy going to our church. Even though it’s a lot more crowded and such, I don’t mind. I love celebrating the resurrection of our Savior with as many folks as I can. He is RISEN!!!
4.And Now There are Two…Sports, that is. I mentioned last week that Morgan is trying Soccer this year and it’s been going pretty well–so far. Although this week–with only ten minutes left in the game, one of his teammates got kicked in the knee and went down screaming in pain. We all anxiously awaited as they gave him treatment and found out he had a dislocated kneecap. Ouch! Thankfully, he’s doing fine now, but Morgan looked a little pale faced after all was said and done. When I asked him if he was ok, he just replied quietly–“I didn’t know that could happen playing this sport.” We might be investing in some knee pads this week. Haha!
This week Grayson started Flag Football. He’s on a good team with a good coach and I think it’s going to be a great season. That being said, our Saturdays from here until late May will be going to both Soccer and Flag Football games. Sometimes things look better on paper that the actual reality of it.
5.Movies and Shows to Watch. We enjoyed a couple of good movies, one disappointing one and some new seasons of some shows we’re watching. Just click the link to read our reviews.
