A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A little too close for comfort. The winds have been ridiculously high in our area lately. Plus, we are experiencing a drought–up until a couple of days ago, I can’t even remember the last time we had more than spit falling to the ground. As a result, our city experienced 4 wildfires all in one day–one of them was less than 2 miles from our home. It is a scary feeling to look out your window and see a smoldering plume of smoke rising. Thankfully, it was contained quickly, no homes were damaged and no one was hurt. It has caused an ugly scar on my running trail, but it could have been a lot worse.
2. Mother’s Day Love. I absolutely love everything about being a Momma. And I especially love Mother’s Day. My boys go out of their way to make sure they show me how much they love me in their own special way. For Morgan–he wrote some beautiful words in the card he made me AND he did his chores without even being asked. Grayson gave me a full on hug—as opposed to the side lean that I get most days if I’m lucky. And, of course, Super Rockstar makes me feel the most special of all.
I also love celebrating my own Mom. She is a true inspiration to me and I love that we both enjoy doing so many of the same things.
I hope all you Momma’s out there had as good of a day celebrating this special privilege of Motherhood–as much as I did.
3. Cave of the Winds Gig. SofaKillers got to play a really fun gig this past week at Cave of the Winds. It was a gorgeous night and fans showed up by the hundreds to hear the guys play some great music and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. Oxymorons Comedy opened the show with their comedy routine and the whole night was a lot of fun. Grayson was thrilled to win one of the raffle prizes–two tickets for a cave tour.
4. Another Trip Around the Sun For Me. I have a secret to tell you….I love my birthday. I know I’m supposed to be upset and lament getting older, but for some reason I don’t. Maybe it’s just I’m wired funny. But, most likely it’s because Super Rockstar always celebrates my birthday in big ways. He is REALLY good at doing fun surprises and making the whole day special. This year, he took me clothes shopping and out to lunch, then I got do a scavenger hunt to find my “Birthday Box” that was stuffed full of more gifts and my favorite treats, my boys made me wonderful cards AND to top it all off–a wonderful Baskin Robins ice-cream cake (they are the BEST). I also really enjoy all of the birthday messages on social media. It was a great day and I am very blessed to have so many friends and family members that celebrate my life with me.
5. Movies and Shows to Watch. We went to see the new Doctor Strange movie in the movie theater and I watched a chik flic at home. Just click the link to read our reviews.
