A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Springtime in Colorado. For those of you that live in more “normal” weather states–springtime is probably a nice rain shower here and there with your beautiful gardens (that you got to plant back in March) bursting with life and wonderful color. Here in Colorado springtime means that winter circles back one more time with a–big finish–dumping of snow. Sigh. It’s so funny every year to read all the comments on social media. The newbies (the recent transplants to Colorado)–are astonished and gasp in disbelief of such a bizarre phenomenon. They are the same ones that bought out the annuals and perennials at Lowe’s the week before and are scrambling to save them. Other’s are angry and can’t believe we have to deal with shoveling and being snowed in so late in the year…again. And then there’s the old timers, who scold and remind everyone of how much we need the moisture. One thing we all have in common is the deck pictures showing the snowfall totals on our patio tables. For my boys, it meant one more day of sledding and snow fort building. They loved it.
2. School is OUT! My boys had their last days of school just before Memorial weekend. I won’t lie–this year has been a tough one, especially for Morgan. Highschool has been a rough transition for all of us, but he muscled through finals and finished it. About the only good part for him, is that they got to have free dress day for the last week–so of course he opted for PJ’s.
Meanwhile, Grayson got to enjoy a week of watching movies and playing games for his last few days–ah, the joys of middle school. For the last school assembly–his teacher selected him for the core virtue of ‘heroism’. I was told several times during the school year how helpful he is.
We are all just so relieved to not have to think about projects, assignments and homework for 10 whole weeks.
3. A beautiful outdoor gig and some visits from family. SofaKillers had their first of this summer’s outdoor gigs at Hillside Gardens and Events. It is such a unique, hidden gem in the southern region of Colorado Springs. What a gorgeous night and the guys played great music!
As a bonus, some of Super Rockstar’s cousins that he’s never met in person just happened to be passing through town and came by. It was so good to meet Tiena, Jimmy, and Joe and their spouses.
A few days later, my sister and her husband came to Colorado. They stopped by for an afternoon and we enjoyed hanging out and catching up. (BTW: My sister and I were so busy chatting, I forgot to take a selfie of us. But she was there. I promise).
If any other friends or family happen to be coming to our beautiful state for vacation–please let us know. We’d love to see you!
5.My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
