A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.The Birthday Boy. Super Rockstar recently celebrated his birthday. Well–maybe “celebrated” isn’t accurate, since he doesn’t typically thrill in getting another year older. Our boys, with all of their teenager teasing–don’t help matters much. They call him “Old Man” and “Grandpa’ most of the time. I think they feel that it is their job to keep him humble. He had a good day of reading our cards, doing his scavenger hunt for his birthday box, and enjoying opening his gifts. We also got his favorite fried chicken from Popeyes for lunch and went to see the new Thor: Love and Thunder movie. Happy Birthday Babe! We love celebrating you!
2. Airsoft Play. My son, Morgan, has recently become very interested in Airsoft play. We were excited to find out Colorado Springs has an airsoft arena– American Paintball Coliseum They offer airsoft, paintball and laser tag and also rent any equipment. I especially appreciated that they are VERY generous in the time for play–it’s $20 for 2.5 hours. The rentals are $20-25 and include gun, mask and muzzle cover for the gun. You can reserve a time online or just walk in. We learned that most players show up around 11:00am–so if you want more folks to play with, it’s best to wait until then. The boys had a blast and we plan to go back soon.
3. SofaKillers at the Fair and Bootbarn Hall. Super Rockstar had a nice sabbatical from gigs for a little over a month–due to vacations and such. All the guys were itching to play and came out of the gate with two awesome gigs. Thursday night was their first time playing for the El Paso County Fair. Unfortunately, I missed this one–but it sounds like it was fun.
And Friday night they played to a sold-out crowd at Boot Barn Hall. What a night. Everyone came to have a good time–including the guys. The air conditioning had gone out earlier in the day–so it was bit sweltering. But the guys put on a great show and the heat didn’t drive anyone away. When it finally was fixed–it made the night even better.
4. Dart Wars. I may have mentioned a time or two how much my boys enjoy going to Dart Wars (Ah, you have lad. Frrrequently)(That’s me trying to roll my r’s. I can’t do it in real life either). But, it’s true. They LOVE it. And I love taking them there. I get to enjoy an hour or more of sitting in a nice comfy chair, in an airconditioned room reading a book or watching them play–while my boys get to shoot their Nerf guns at complete strangers. And not me. I can’t speak highly enough about this place–the prices are reasonable, they always give extra play time, and all the staff members are super friendly.
6. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
