A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Oliver–the Musical. Morgan recently expressed an interest in getting involved in theater. It was too late for auditions at his new school for their upcoming performance, but they needed behind the scenes help. He dove right in helping clean up and organize and spent several days helping out after school. On the evenings of the performance, he was proud to dress up and hand out programs. I was really impressed with all of it. The kids pulled off a nice performance and the attendance was incredible–nearly every seat filled for all three nights. I think he’s caught the bug now and is hoping to audition for a part in their next production.
2.Flag Football. Grayson has started his last season of flag football with i9 sports. He’s only had two games so far but has gotten to play quarterback and receiver on offense and then on defense, he loves playing the linebacker position. His coach is giving him opportunities to teach and lead the younger, less experienced kids on his team and I love seeing his confidence grow.
3.Boot Barn Hall. It was another sold out crowd for SofaKillers playing at Boot Barn Hall. Wow! What a fun night. There were tons of folks who had never heard the guys play before and now are huge fans. Great show and great night!
4.Homecoming. Morgan went to his first ever homecoming dance. He has very specific tastes on his clothing right now–anything camo for casual every day and anything gold and sparkly for formal wear. I love watching him grow into his own interests and tastes and I especially love when he tries new things completely outside his comfort zone. It’s hard and thrilling to parent kids at any age, but when they really start putting themselves out there–it’s downright terrifying. He enjoyed the experience and we’re so proud of him for going.
5. My fun night with Grayson. While Morgan was dancing the night away at homecoming, Grayson and I had some fun going to The Summit Interquest. It’s a bowling/laser tag/video game family fun place here in Colorado Springs. I admit–I am terrible at all video games and especially terrible at laser tag. But Grayson was very kind and didn’t harass me too much.
