A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Whataburger. A little bit of Texas showed up in our neighborhood this week. We LOVE Whataburger and got to enjoy them on their opening day. Super Rockstar and I even came for a second time for our weekly lunch date. Really, there’s no reason for us to ever leave the neighborhood again.
2. Civil Air Patrol. Morgan has been talking for a while now about how he would like to become an airline pilot. He also has shown some interest in military. We found out from a friend about Civil Air Patrol. It’s awesome. Youths from 12-18 can sign up as a cadet and go to weekly meetings where they focus on learning about leadership, aerospace, fitness and character. They advance through a series of achievements, earning honors and increased responsibility along the way–including learning to pilot a plane. There is no military commitment, but many cadets go on to serve in the Air Force. Morgan is over the moon excited. It’s a lot of study work, but he’s motivated and can’t wait to earn his way into the pilot seat.
3. Triple Shot Gig Week. Wow what a busy week for the SofaKillers. They had three awesome shows. The first was Hillside Gardens. This is an outdoor gig–they played here for the first time back in May. What a beautiful Colorado evening and a great crowd.
Show #2 was at Viewhouse. This is also an outdoor event on their patio. It’s a really cool place that has lots of outdoor seating, cozy cabana’s with firepits and a place to play cornhole. Our boys came to this one and had a great time playing cornhole and listening to their Daddy sing. And of course, got in their latest moves doing the kazatsky kick.
Show #3 was at The Chicken Coop. Our favorite bar owners–Art and Sherri Koch have a nice place out in Black Forest that always gets packed when the guys play here.
I don’t know if Super Rockstar is going to be able to do much more than whisper for a few days.
