Coffee Break–Volume 143

A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.

1.Fall is Here. My favorite time of year has arrived! Squeal! I absolutely love when the weather turns cooler, and the leaves start changing. It never lasts long enough, but I try to enjoy every second of it.

2.Learning to Drive. It’s hard to believe that my boys are old enough to learn to drive. Super Rockstar has been especially wanting to teach Morgan–since he turned 15 earlier this year (sob!). A local church parking lot was the perfect spot to practice, and they both did pretty well. But there is no way I’m ready for this. Hm mm. No way.

3. Costume Party Gig. Longtime fans of SofaKillers and friends of ours, Hal and Lori, had their annual costume party. The guys have been playing this gig for 7 years now and the theme this year was “People of Walmart” –it was a blast. I loved all the costumes that the guests came up with–some were downright hysterical. My favorite was Super Rockstar in his shorty shorts and cowboy boots.

4. Morgan’s First Job. Morgan has been talking about wanting a job for several months now. A couple of weeks ago, we were at one of his brother’s flag football games (he plays on an i9 Sports team) and he took it upon himself to go over to the employee tent to ask them about refereeing. As it turns out, they were hiring–and after a phone interview and some paperwork, he’s all set. His first day, he got to coach a soccer game for the littles (referees also step in to coach if a team’s volunteer coaches are unavailable), and referee two other soccer games. He was tired after a 6-hour shift but had a great time. And since i9 hosts a number of different sports year-round, he’ll get to continue on. His boss told me he was very impressed with Morgan on his first day. I’m a very proud Momma of my boy working his first job.
