A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Another great SofaKillers gig at Boot Barn Hall. The guys LOVE playing at this venue. It’s such a great atmosphere and it was a great night of awesome music and dancing.
2. Thanksgiving Break. We enjoyed a wonderful week of time off school for the boys, time off work for Super Rockstar and eating tons of good food and relaxing. Mostly, we just hung out at home–the boys raked some leaves, hassled their Daddy and even got some homework done. We also did something we haven’t done in years–buy a real Christmas tree.
We attempted to drive to the top of Pikes Peak one of the days but found out the last 5 miles were closed due to snow. So, instead we drove up to Woodland Park to our favorite furniture/accessory store, Tweeds. If you have never been–Christmas time is the best time to go–they have every inch of it decked out in amazing Christmas decor. If I ever win the lottery–they will be my go-to for furnishing my log home in the mountains. We also had lunch at a place I’ve been hearing about for years. It’s called Wines of Colorado. They are located on the turn off for the highway that takes you to the top of Pikes Peak. We didn’t try their wine this visit, but they are also known for delicious burgers. Oh my. They were fantastic–a little pricey, but worth every bite.
For Thanksgiving Day, we enjoyed having our neighbors, Jim and Romella, over for our feast and then getting to watch our Cowboys win, take long naps and eat second, third, and fourths of leftovers.
3. The Nutcracker. I couldn’t even tell you how long it’s been since I’ve seen the Nutcracker ballet. Super Rockstar and I had an opportunity for a date night the weekend after Thanksgiving and he got online and scored us a couple of tickets (they were virtually sold out). It was a magical, wonderful evening at The Pikes Peak Center. The Oklahoma City Ballet provided the main dancers, but many of our local dance studios were included–the littles are SO precious in their costumes and performances. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a wonderful time.
4. Pampered Chef Party. My friend, Mary Kaye, hosted a Pampered Chef party this past week. I hadn’t been to one in a long while and I just love their products. I didn’t get to stick around for the meal, but it was fun to hang out with some friends and I got to see how to use some of their cool gadgets–a spiralizer (for making zucchini zoodles), a cool garlic crusher (and peeler) and several other things. I only ordered a couple of small things, but some day (again when I win the lottery), I’ve got my eye on several items I would love to have.
5. Movies and Shows to Watch. Â Just click the link to read our reviews of some movies and shows we watched.
