A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Ring Security System. My parents always spoil us with awesome gifts for Christmas–most often things we would never think of buying for ourselves. This year they surprised us with a Ring Security system. If you’re not familiar–there are many options available: outside cameras and motion detectors, security lights, inside cameras, and so many other products. Just check out their website. Our system is a doorbell camera, an inside alert chime and two additional stick-up cams and solar panels to charge them. The three camera’s cover all areas around our house and anyone who comes to our front door. It’s connected to our phones–so we get alerts anytime someone comes nearby, and it came with a free month of recording the activity (it’s about $100/year after that). It is absolutely fantastic.
We also found out we that there is neighborhood communication for anyone to report suspicious activity, etc. But mostly we’ve found that it’s folks either finding lost pets or reporting that they lost a pet. My phone buzzes with every alert and I’m beginning to question if pet ownership is the right choice for the majority of my neighbors.
I crack myself up– every time I go out to my car or in the back yard, my phone buzzes with an alert, and I’m like “oh, someone’s near my house”. And then realize–oh yeah, it’s me. Every. single. time. It’s definitely giving us a lot of peace of mind–especially since our boys are staying home by themselves more often.
2. Lost Island. We finally are getting some much longed for warmer days here and there, so we took advantage of it and had some family fun at Lost Island Mini Golf. I think this is the first time we have ever kept score–usually my boys play as fast as possible and cheat on most of their shots. I highly recommend this place–their courses are super fun and challenging. Plus there’s dinosaurs and a giant King Kong. They have other attractions to enjoy as well, but most are not open in the winter. We had a great time and the boys made a bet between themselves–the loser had to eat a spoonful of Franks Red-hot sauce. Grayson got that lucky privilege–at least he had his big gulp nearby to help wash it down.
3. SofaKillers @ Boot Barn Hall. What an amazing show the guys put on for a sold-out crowd at Boot Barn Hall. I really love this place the best of all the venues SofaKillers plays–great atmosphere, awesome staff, good food and it’s always a fun experience. They will be back there in April–get your tickets early, they often sell out quickly.
