A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Sophomore Project. Morgan was required to do a Sophomore Project this year. It’s basically a science fair type project–only instead of it having to be a science experiment, it can be anything that they are interested in learning about. Morgan’s subject matter was an easy choice for him–learning to hunt. They were required to spend several months learning about their topic, write an essay on their learning experience and then put together a visual presentation. All of the sophomores set up their presentations in the gym for everyone to come and see–parents and family got to come in the evening. He did a really great job and I really enjoyed seeing the creativity of the other kids too.
2.The Shooting Range. My Dad gave the boys his childhood 22 rifle for Christmas. They were beyond thrilled and have been begging to take it to a shooting range to try it out. A good friend of ours told us about a shooting range up past Woodland Park. It’s free to the public, but it’s first come first serve. We felt lucky to get a spot since it’s such a popular place. Boy was it fun. We all enjoyed shooting at some targets with the 22, but also brought along our 9mm for Super Rockstar and I to fire. Morgan also brought along his airsoft sniper. He’s taking an electronic media class this year and is working on a movie trailer project where he plays an assassin. Super Rockstar helped him get some great footage for it.
3. Super Bowl. Our good friends (and fellow SofaKiller’s) Rich and Steph hosted another great Super Bowl party. They have two gloriously large TV’s, the food was fantastic, and the Chiefs won. I was so caught up in the game–I forgot to take any pictures. But my Mom sent me a photo of her in her lucky socks. I’m pretty sure it’s the reason they won.
4. Valentine’s Day. I’ll be honest, in our house, we don’t need a day to remind us to say I love you and eat chocolate–it’s a pretty regular routine. But I’m not one to break with tradition either. If we want to have a get flowers and eat chocolate day–let’s do it. I’m in. I love that my son’s always make Super Rockstar and I–and even each other–special homemade Valentine cards. The story Morgan wrote for me….just read it. It made me cry like a baby. Grayson made his cards a couple of weeks before–without even being reminded. Each one was so thoughtful and unique to the person he made it for. And Super Rockstar gave us framed photos of each of us with him. I am so blessed to have a family where there is no shortage of creativity and love.
