A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Birthday Boy #1. Morgan turned 16. I can’t even begin to tell you how flabbergasted I am about this. He went from tiny baby to this tall handsome man child in, what seems like, a matter of seconds. He is one of the most introspective, kindhearted, people I know. He’s often quiet, but when he talks–he loves to have deep conversations about his interests, current event, and just general life stuff –I always love hearing his perspective on things. Plus, he has this great sense of humor with comedic timing that is hilarious. We had a great time celebrating his birthday.
2. Gig at The Coop. Sherri and Art are the owners of a wonderful bar in Black Forest called The Chicken Coop. They have been long time supporters and fans of SofaKillers and every year, for Sherri’s birthday, the guys get to play a packed house gig at their bar. Happy Birthday Sherri!
3. Spring Break Fun. Grayson got two weeks of spring break and for the first week–spent most of it just lazing around the house. But when Morgan began his break, they got to enjoy some fun brother time. Dart Wars was a fun way to start it off–they have two locations in the Springs now. Morgan was excited that he got to try out his new Nerf gun.
We snuck in a quick trip to the shooting range that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago (you can read about that here)–it was cold and windy, so we didn’t stay long.
The boys also just had a blast playing together around the house. Right now they both love Transformers and it’s so much fun to listen to them –deeply immersed in their fantasy world together for hours at a time.
Super Rockstar got to do his annual reading to kids for Dr. Seuss day at Helen Keller Elementary. He’s been doing this for 18 years now–all the kids just love him AND now they all now know how to make a proper “moo” sound (Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?).
4. A Nice Getaway to Fort Collins. We also took our traditional spring break trip to Fort Collins for a nice family getaway –there are several fun things to do. We always stay in a hotel with a pool and hot tub where the boys especially enjoy spending a lot of time. But, their favorite is going to Fort Fun. They have an indoor arcade, laser tag, and escape rooms. Outdoors they have mini golf, a giant slide and go-carts. Unfortunately, the outdoor activities were closed because of a huge dumping of snow they got the day we arrived, but to make up for it, they gave us a great deal on playing unlimited games in the arcade and laser tag.
Super Rockstar and I also really enjoyed the antique stores in town. We never know what treasures we’ll find.
5. Birthday Boy #2. Grayson is always in absolute agony as he awaits his turn for his birthday. It’s only 9 days after Morgans, but it might as well be 9 months. He is now 14. How did my baby get so grown up? Grayson is energetic, loud, and a jokester. He keeps us laughing at his antics, on our toes with his many pranks, and gives us no choice in playing with him. He loves to talk and talk and talk and I pray that never changes. He had a great birthday and enjoyed every part of it.
6. A visit from Grandma and Papa. My parents always come in March for a visit to celebrate the boys’ birthdays. Our boys love showing off their new gifts to them and my parents are great at oohing and ahhing appropriately over them. They, of course, spoiled the boys with more gifts and also treated us all to dinner out. My boys sure love their Grandma and Papa.
7. Movies and Shows to Watch. Episode 63–Just click the link to read our reviews of some movies we watched.
8. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
Whew! What a busy time it’s been. I’m always pretty grateful when the month of our “March Madness” ends. Barney’s expression sums it all up for me.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
