A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A special celebration. My parents celebrated their 60th anniversary back in July. My sister, Stephanie and I wanted to do something special for them to commemorate this amazing milestone. They had spent their honeymoon in Colorado and visited Cave of the Winds back in the day, so since we were planning a family get together in Breckenridge over Labor Day weekend anyway, we decided that a day of fun–back where it all began–would be a great way to kick it off.
Super Rockstar and I have been long time friends with Trip Uhalt. Trip performs with an improv comedy group here in town called Oxymorons, he also is a photographer and videographer and has taken many professional photos for SofaKillers over the years, and he also just happens to do PR for Cave of the Winds. So, when we asked him if he could help us put together a cave tour and maybe a few fun activities for us–he went above and beyond. Not only did we get our own private tour, but he also helped recreate my parent’s original photo at the end of our tour–taking the photo himself. AND THEN, he hooked us up with Terror dactyl rides (of course my mom was first in line) and pioneer passes (the climbing wall, high ropes course, Geronimo’s leap and bat-a-pult combo) for whoever wanted them. I cannot thank him and the owners of Cave of the Winds enough. We had such an incredible time and we appreciated all they did to spoil us while we were there.
2. Labor Day Weekend Fun with Family. My sister and my brother-in-law, Todd rented a cabin in Breckenridge so that all of us could all gather together and enjoy our beautiful Colorado Mountains. There were sixteen people, five dogs and a whole lotta fun packed into our weekend together. The cabin was on Peak 7 and had a nice hot tub, firepit and lots of comfy chairs to just lounge and visit in. We also enjoyed shopping in town, riding the gondola up to the top and even trying out the sky coaster ride. And of course we had to all go visit the Isak Heartstone, the Breckenridge troll. Thank you, Steph and Todd, for an amazing family weekend!
3. 29 Years. Super Rockstar and I celebrated our anniversary while we were in Breckenridge. My parents took our boys our to lunch so we could get away–just us. We strolled through a very crowded downtown Breckenridge, had lunch at a nice BBQ place and did a little shopping. He always has been and always will be my most favorite person.
