A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. The last football game of the season. Grayson had such a positive experience for his first high school sport. Playing tackle football was a learning experience and commitment for all of us–with the practices starting in late summer and continuing every day after school, learning the huge playbook, weekend games, and team dinners each week (hosted by the parents). We found a great community with his fellow players and families and are sad that it’s ended. The coaches were amazing and gave him so many opportunities to learn and grow and he is ready to work hard during the off season and go again next year.
2. A lovely wedding gig. A friend asked the Super Rockstar to sing at his wedding and then SofaKillers to play for the reception. His daughter, Molly, is probably SofaKillers #1 fan and always insists that her dad takes her to their gigs. What a wonderful wedding and fun reception–everything was so special and beautiful. Congratulations James and Ana–we wish you many years of joy and happiness.
3. The last public show. Super Rockstar is winding down his time with SofaKillers. He played his last public show at Boot Barn Hall and a huge, sold-out crowd came to dance and have a great time. He got to do a really nice “good-bye” during the break. The next few shows will be private parties and then New Years Eve will be the last one. It’s bittersweet. I’ll miss being on the dance floor with all my fellow groupies and I know he’ll miss performing with the guys. But he’s known for a while that it’s time. Our boys are growing up so fast and he doesn’t want to miss a single second of it. Don’t worry–he will most definitely still be doing music–he IS Super Rockstar, ya know. But it’s time to shift gears and go a little smaller for now.
