A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. School Art Show. Both the boys took fun art classes this semester. The entire art department does a wonderful showing of the various mediums of work and Grayson and I got to get a glimpse of all of it. Morgan took a digital photography class and Grayson took ceramics.
2. Our Annual Christmas Party. This is the main event we host as a family each year. It is an absolute blast to do, and we love and appreciate all who come. Santa has been a special guest for many years now and this year our friend Matt (keyboardist for SofaKillers) accompanied Santa as he led everyone in singing Christmas carols. It was great! Some of my favorite moments were watching my boys entertain their friends that came–lots of running up and down the stairs and a football game going on out in the freezing cold windy night. I also loved watching everyone sitting around eating, visiting, hearing all the laughter and joining in a lot of it. But my favorite was when I started to clean things up after everyone left, I found that I had left a giant stack of platters on one of my end tables. In my rush to get all the food out, I forgot to put away the ones I didn’t use. It was there all night and no one said a word. I can only imagine that it was thought to be some edgy sort of new Christmas decor –“Don’t make your house look perfect–messy is the new clean”.
3. A Crushing Shock. Scott and Patti Drebes have been friends of ours for many years. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and always a delight to be around. Just days after being in our home for the Christmas party, Scott had a massive heart attack and passed away. I still can’t wrap my mind around it. My heart aches for Patti and all of the Drebes family–there are no words. Scott was one of the nicest men I knew–always a smile and so friendly to everyone. He was a World Champion Speed Skater in his younger years–and won many world titles and was inducted into the Speed Skating Hall of Fame in 2012. There is a Speed Skating Scholarship Fund set up (just click the link if you would like to donate). The shock is crushing, and the heartache is overwhelming. Please pray for Patti and all of Scott’s family and loved ones.

5. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
It was wonderful to be there with everyone even though I couldn’t stay long. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend Scott. What a tragedy for his family. We’ll be praying for their healing of this huge loss.
Love as always…MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE HEART OF TEXAS♥️🎄
