A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
Hoo Boy! March is always such a busy month for us. Both the boys have birthdays and Spring break is in between. Plus Easter landed in this month too. I’m a little out of breath, but here’s how it all went down for us this past couple of weeks.
1.Jury Duty. I got the magic letter calling me to my civic duty. I sighed and rolled my eyes like most of us as I prepared to spend a day of sitting and waiting. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if I got chosen–at least I would feel like I served a purpose. But that’s not usually how it goes. Only 24 of our group of nearly 500 got called back for selection. I spent three and a half hours sitting in a room, reading and twiddling my thumbs and then got sent home. Oh well.
2. Dr. Seuss Day. Super Rockstar has read to kids at Helen Keller Elementary for over 20 years now. It is so much fun for him and the kids. His favorite story to read is “Mr. Brown Can Moo” And just so you know–if he asks you what a cow sounds like and you say “Moo”. You’re wrong and you will be corrected.
3. Morgan’s Birthday. I can’t believe my first born turned 17. My tiny 5 1/2 pound newborn has grown into a giant 6′ long legged, handsome young man. He had a great day–having his traditional chocolate donuts for breakfast and getting to open his gift from Grayson. He had to go to school, but I got to take he and his brother out to Whataburger for lunch. After school, he got to do his scavenger hunt to find his “birthday box” that was stuffed full of gifts and favorite snacks and drinks. My favorite part was seeing him smile and hearing him laugh so much. He was so thankful and enjoyed it all so much.
4. Spring Break. Spring break was filled with all sorts of fun and relaxation. We kicked it off by going to see the new Ghostbusters: Frozen Kingdom movie and we all enjoyed it. We also spent a lot of time just lazing around at home–the boys played video games, built Lego and enjoyed the warm weather and I got to enjoy not having to drive them everywhere. We also took our annual trip to Ft. Collins. This has been a longtime spring break tradition where we stay in a hotel with a swimming pool and hot tub, eat lots of junk food, go to antique stores and spend an afternoon at Fort Fun playing arcade games, mini golf, laser tag, and racing go-carts. This year we tried our first escape room. I’ll admit, I was apprehensive. We are all control freaks and the idea of having to figure out clues on the clock seemed like a recipe for disaster. There was a little tension at first, but we soon got into a groove, worked pretty well together and came within seconds of solving it all. It was a lot more fun than I realized it would be. And then we ended our break with going to see the new Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. It was very good and definitely a theater worthy movie.
5. Grayson’s Birthday. He turned 15 this year and is a full of fun, ball of energy that constantly keep us on our toes. He loves to celebrate anything, but his own birthday is by far his favorite. He had a great day–starting off with a bag of donuts and a card and gift from his brother. Morgan saved up almost 3 paychecks from his job to get his brother a really cool airsoft rifle. Grayson was absolutely giddy. And it was so cool to see Morgan’s pride in knowing he had given his brother something special with his own earned money. Then, Grayson got to do a scavenger hunt for his birthday box that was stuffed full of favorite snacks, treats and gifts. He is known for asking for random things. This year he asked for some survival gear and MRE’s. I just shrugged and said “whatever”.
6. Easter. It came early this year, and our day was a whirlwind of coloring Easter eggs, going to church, enjoying our Easter baskets and gifts, doing an easter egg hunt (we’re still missing one) and enjoying a meal of ham, gourmet potatoes, and strawberry pie. Super Rockstar bought me a new Easter dress and I absolutely LOVE it!

8. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
I’m worn out. If you need me, I’ll be in my stretchy pants, mindlessly munching popcorn and sitting comatose on our sofa.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
