A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A Super Fun Fund-Raising Event. Super Rockstar has long been involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and when he was with the SofaKillers band they played a few times for their fundraising event, Angels Against Alzheimer’s. He even wrote a song for them and performed it on our local Fox 21 news show–Loving Living Local. They asked him to come and perform that song at the event this year, and as a thank you invited us both to participate in the fun of the evening. It was so great. There were casino games to enjoy, delicious appetizers and a DJ that played awesome music to dance too. We had a blast and loved spending an evening with some wonderful folks.
2. Grayson’s First Meet. He finally got to participate in his first track meet and raced in the 100, 200 and 4 X 200 relay. He did so great and had an absolute blast.
3. Super Rockstar Celebrates 20 years at Compassion International. I am so proud of my man for his 20 years of work at this amazing organization. They have been around for over 70 years and now serve in 27 countries. Super Rockstar has worn many “hats” during his years with them and is currently their Global PR Director. He’s had the privilege of traveling to many countries–Thailand, Kenya, Haiti (he was there just days after the devastating earthquake), Guatemala, Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, India, Philippines, (where our former sponsored child lived), El Salvador (where our current sponsored child lives), and so many others. He’s met and worked with so many wonderful people along the way.
Also, he has just recently started going to work back at the office a few days a week. During the pandemic, they–like many other businesses– had to close up shop for a time. But, to make matters worse, a water main burst and flooded all four floors of one of the wings of the building while it was shut down. No one knew for several days, and the damage was severe. It took them several years to repair and remodel but it is complete now and Super Rockstar got to move into a new office this month. It is SO nice–everything is state of the art, with creative and flexible workspaces, private offices, places to socialize–they even have tent spaces and bean bag rooms. It’s wonderful!
4. A Family Hike. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous lately and we decided to go for a family hike to get out and soak it all in. We did the seven bridges trail–which is absolutely gorgeous. We were not the only one with such a brilliant plan–there were lots of folks out and about. We have to take these precious warm days while we can get them.
5. Movies and Shows to Watch–Episode 93. Just click the link to read our reviews of what we watched.
6. My Favorite Memes of the Week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
