A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.30 Years! I can’t believe that Super Rockstar and I have been married for 30 years. It seems unfathomable– absolutely without fathom. We are not the same young naive kids that didn’t have a clue all those years ago. I love that we have built this wonderful life together that neither of us could have even imagined back then. We’ve always had a lot of things we enjoy doing together and before our kids were born, we used to play golf quite a bit. So, we decided that would be a fun way to celebrate our special day. We had a blast but neglected to remember that we are quite a bit older than we were last time we played. Rigor Mortis set in shortly afterward and neither of us could move a muscle the rest of the day. This is what our life is now—and I love it.
2. Homecoming. I love all the excitement of High School Homecoming. Our school had a full week of fun activities to attend, and both boys enjoyed participating:
–Grayson and I went to the girl’s powder puff flag football games. His date for the dance was playing and it was so much fun to watch. My favorite though were the guys as the cheerleaders–they put on fantastic halftime shows.
–Morgan volunteered at the school carnival. He got to be pummeled by water balloons for three hours straight and took it like a champ.
–Grayson got to walk in the Hoco parade with the football team.
–We all went to the varsity football game. Grayson didn’t get to play, but he was on the sideline with his team.
–And finally, both boys went to the dance this year and, as usual, dressed in their fancy duds. We treated them and Grayson’s date to a fancy dinner at Biaggi’s before and then dropped them off at the dance.
3. Senior Photo’s. Morgan’s senior year snuck up so fast on me and I had no idea there were so many deadlines that would hit us all at once. One of them was getting his senior photos done. When Super Rockstar was in SofaKillers a photographer, Holly–of Oh Shoot Photography, took professional photos of them at one of their shows. She did such a great job so we chose her to take Morgan’s senior photos. We are thrilled with how they came out.
4. Fall Color. Every year I see so many folks posting gorgeous photos of the fall color they spy as they go leaf peeping. One of the most beautiful drives nearby is toward Cripple Creek and Victor. Every year I beg Super Rockstar to go. Every year for the past several he has had back-to-back gigs just about every weekend in the fall. This year he didn’t and so we finally got to go. It was even better than I imagined. Our plan was to drive to Victor, have lunch and then go see the new troll, Rita the Rock Planter. But I forgot that having lunch in small mountain towns is very hit or miss. They run on a different timeline than us big city folk. If you get your food within an hour, it’s considered fast food. What I thought would take a half hour or so took almost 2 hours, so we’ll have to go see Rita another day. But seeing our beautiful Colorado Aspen trees in all their glory was absolutely fantastic!
