A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. A Trip To Trampoline World. Every year my boys make a “bucket list” of all the things they would like to do over summer break–a trip to Trampoline World is always included. We had Morgan’s birthday party here back in March and haven’t been back since. It’s probably my boys’ most favorite trampoline place and they always have a great time. It’s a great place for kids (and adults) to get their energy out and very reasonably priced too.
2. A Few Seconds in the Pool. Last week I told you about leveling out some ground so we could set up our pool (you can read about that here). We got it all set up and filled with water, but the weather has been less than cooperative so far this summer break. Enjoying an outdoor pool is always hit or miss here in Colorado because it takes a long time for our temps to warm up enough to want to enjoy it. Plus afternoon thunderstorms come in like clockwork every day so our time to get to splash around is cut a bit short. This past week it was warm enough outside, so the boys’ jumped in for about 5.6 seconds (the water was FREEZING!) before begging to come in and take hot showers.
3. A Solo Gig. I’ve shared many times about Super Rockstar’s gigs with his band SofaKillers. This past week, however, he got asked to do a solo acoustic gig at a friend’s bar–The Chicken Coop. It was just him and a guitar–playing and singing some songs he wrote, some acoustic versions of popular songs and some songs that he has turned into country tunes. He was SO nervous since it’s been many years since he’s done his own thing. He did SO great and I was so proud of how confident he was–cool as a cucumber. Later he told me he was shaking like a leaf and was about to have an anxiety attack the whole time. Haha!
The best part was that many friends–including most of the guys from SofaKillers came out to support (heckle) him. It was such a fun night. I asked him if he would do it again and he said “Not no, but heck no!” (except he didn’t say heck). He did say if someone else was playing the music it would have been a lot more fun for him–so, we’ll see…
4. A Garage Sale. A couple of weeks ago I shared a post on how to host your own garage sale ( you can read it here). This past week we had our own sale and it was a great success. I would like to thank my parents and our great neighbors Luke and Kael for donating so much of their stuff so that we could have a lot more to sell.
Morgan and Grayson had a lemonade stand again this year–but I think they drank more than they sold. They seemed to have the theory that more folks would buy it if they saw them enjoying it. Uh huh.
5. A New Show We Love. We have started binge watch a show on WGN called Pure. It’s a really good drama about Mennonites running a drug ring. They are in the middle of their second season right now and we just finished season 1. It kind of has a “Breaking Bad” feel and I definitely recommend it.
I hope you all have a great week and that we finally get to enjoy some consistent summer temperatures here. Remind me of this when it’s late September and I’m sick to death of the heat.
