1. Valentine’s Day. I love this day for so many reasons. First, I have been fortunate of being loved well–all my life. Long before I met Super Rockstar, I had a special Valentine who sent me flowers every Valentine’s Day until I married. My Daddy. He was the very first man I loved and always will love. But when he gave me to Super Rockstar over 30 years ago, he did so with the trust that I would continue to be loved well by my husband. And I have never ever been disappointed. Super Rockstar always uses his beautiful artistic talent to make me amazing cards, gives me my favorite candy and we take time to go out–just us. What I never could have known when I took his hand in marriage was that years later, I would give birth to two more Valentine’s–my beautiful boys. Until the day they marry–I get the distinct privileged of being their Valentine. Super Rockstar is teaching them well–and their future wives will be extremely blessed to have such romantic young men. They made me the BEST cards that included expressions of their love and appreciation of me as their Momma and it melts my heart.
2. Sophomore Project. My boys school requires all sophomores to do a big research project every year. At the beginning of the school year, students are required to think of something they want to learn about, do or make –and then there is an elaborate set of steps to follow with milestones to reach along the way. It culminates in a big showcase where they all set out their project boards and get to show off what they accomplished. Since Grayson loves cardboard and creating things out of it–he decided to learn how to make homemade games. He found a YouTube channel that had complete instructions and with the help of Super Rockstar, he created a marble maze game (with 3 different maze tops to choose from) and a Mario Cart game. They all turned out great. Several students and adults enjoyed playing them at the showcase.
3. Enjoying the gorgeous warm weather. We get most of our snow fall this time of year–so the warm days that are few and far between are enjoyed to the fullest. On one such day, we decided to pick up some KFC and head to one of our favorite parks to soak in the sun.
4. A mental health getaway. What is it about late winter that causes a bad case of the doldrums? We all were experiencing the “blah’s” and a lot of stress in life that was weighing us down. So, we decided to get away to a hotel in Denver. All we needed was a pool, hot tub and free breakfast. Last summer we stayed at the Drury Plaza and really loved that they have all that PLUS an evening happy hour that includes free food and drinks for all and free adult beverages for the grownups. It was SO nice to just sleep in laze around in the pool and enjoy the hot tub. While we were there, we also decided to check out a family fun place called Boondocks. We’d often seen it from the interstate and had always wanted to try it out. I’m so glad we did! There are go-carts, a ropes course, mini golf, bowling, arcade games, and laser tag. We had such a blast. When we came home, we all felt much better–rested, refreshed and de-stressed.

6. Books I read.
Missing: A Private Novel By James Patterson & Kathryn Fox. I don’t read many James Patterson books, but if I come across one at a garage sale for a cheap price, I’ll give it a go. This one was ok. It had all the intrigue and drama that he is known for.
Smart Money Smart Kids by Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruz. I’ve been wanting to learn more about being more responsible financially. I purchased a bunch of Dave Ramsey books at a garage sale last summer and have read them all and learned a lot. I really liked this one a lot too. His daughter (Rachel Cruz) has taken up the mantel of teaching about personal finance and in this book, she shares a lot of what it was like to be a child of Dave Ramsey and the guinea pig of his now famous method of getting and staying out of debt. My boys have both shown a lot of interest in learning to manage their own money and this book is a great one for how to teach your kids responsible money habits.
7. My Favorite Memes.
As always, I would love to hear from you.
