A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Flag Football: I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it yet–but did you know it’s FOOTBALL season?!! Fall is my most favorite season of the year (and it ain’t because of the pumpkin spice latte’s. BLECH!). I just LOVE the cooler temperatures, the changing leaves and my two boys playing flag football. Super Rockstar was their coach for a couple of years, but he decided to hang up his whistle and give some other sucker (er…ah encouraging adult) a shot at it.
They’ve had three games and lost all three, BUT they are having fun and learning a TON. That’s really what matters anyway. When Morgan snatches flags and keeps a kid from running the ball any further down the field he feels like a pro and when Grayson rushes the quarterback and keeps them from throwing to their intended target–you can hear his war whoop for miles around.
To be honest–I think the parents and coaches are the only ones keeping track of the scores at this age. The kids just feel good when they don’t completely blow it by tripping over their long gangly legs and huge feet.
2. You should be dancing–at The Chicken Coop!: It was The Chicken Coop gig time. Oh, how I love this place and the owners are some of my most favorite people on this planet. Sherri and Art have a GREAT place to come hang out, shoot a little pool, get your dance on with some live music and watch (that lesser than team) the Denver Bronco’s get their butts whooped on Sundays (snicker, snicker).
3. Singin with my man: I love to hear Super Rockstar sing, but getting to sing WITH him is super special. Not because I have an extraordinary voice ( I don’t), but there’s something about harmonizing with him that just makes me feel more connected to him. We sing around our house all the time(if you aren’t singing your conversations–you’re doing it wrong). He has gigs with his band SofaKillers several times a month, but every now and then he gets asked to lead worship at a church or his work place chapel. Whenever he asks me to sing with him–he might as well be proposing to me all over again. “Yes! Yes! A thousand times Yes!” (I just watched Pride and Prejudice again recently)
Leading worship with him this time was especially sweet–mostly because life hasn’t exactly been very sweet for us lately. I don’t know how to explain it, but when I am next to him singing praise songs to God and listening to a packed auditorium singing along with us–it’s like we have been lifted to a place in our souls up and over every hard thing we are facing. I always want to just stay there for a little while.
I hope you have a great week!
