A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Ozark. I love, love, love this show. It’s on Netflix and there are currently 2 seasons to enjoy. They go a little heavy on the debauchery (think Game of Thrones) and there’s quite a bit of violence, but we really enjoyed it (I know, I know–we probably need to seek help)
2. My Jeep. I love my Jeep. This car was mine the second I saw it on the lot. We were originally shopping for Super Rockstar, but as soon as he let me test drive it I think he knew–this one is hers.
I can’t imagine ever wanting to trade it in. Not only do I love driving it, but now it holds nearly 6 years worth of memories. My boys were pretty little when we purchased and over the years have decorated the back windows with stickers. A couple of years ago some dirty rotten thief broke into it to steal my purse. I was just SO relieved that they only smashed the front window–not the back ones.
I also love that Jeep Wrangler owners are our own special tribe. It is an unwritten rule that if you encounter another one on the road that you give the “Jeep Wave”.
We just made the very last payment to the bank this past week and she is now officially ours. We’ve never owned a car in our twenty five years of marriage, but I think we’ll keep this one until it can go no more–which had better be a long while since we just had to spend over $2500 on repairs (I think she’s punishing us because she heard me mentioning how cool I thought the new Jeep truck is).
3. Ad Astra. It was good (said in a high pitched, not totally convincing way). I guess I was hoping for more action and it was more drama/artsy. I liked the story and will probably want to see it again–especially now that I know that it’s drama/artsy and not an action movie.
4. The End of an Era. Five years ago, Super Rockstar came up with the idea to build our boys a pirate ship for them to play on in our back yard. As with all of his creative projects–it was amazing. On any given weekend we had at least half a dozen kids from the neighborhood playing pirates, sword fighting and burying treasure around our yard (whoever lives here in the future is going to be really confused about some of the things they will dig up). But, unfortunately, time has taken it’s toll. Our boys are growing up and no longer pretend to be pirates and it has sat untouched for several months. Plus, the wood was starting to decay and wasps and spiders had taken up residency in many parts–making it kind of a scary place to play.
So, the ship is coming down. The boys have been working really hard to help out (another way they are earning some money) and we have a huge debris pile forming. I don’t know which makes me feel more sad–the pirate ship coming down or the fact that my boys have outgrown it. It’s the end of an era. Another reminder of how quickly childhood zips by. I am SO grateful for the wonderful memories of watching my two young swashbucklers act out sword fights with Super Rockstar and their friends. We will miss you Mermaid Hunter! (“Taps” playing softly in the background)
Hope you have a great week!
