A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Snow Day #1. We ended Fall Break just in time for a snow storm to hit and give my boys an extra day off. Of course we went sledding and had a blast.
2. Pumpkin Carving. We have a tradition of carving our pumpkins the night before Halloween while watching “Nightmare Before Christmas”. It’s one of my most favorite things we do. But somehow I always end up being the one that has to scrape out the pumpkin guts of all the pumpkins–this is not my most favorite thing to do.
3.New Floors! Our home was turned upside down for two solid weeks so that we could replace all the flooring in our home. I can’t tell you how much I LOVE having this all done. It was a little stressful to have all the mess, but the end result was definitely worth it.
O’Brien’s Carpet One is where we purchased our new carpet and laminate wood floor and they installed as well. Super Rockstar knows the owners and we really wanted to give them our business–I’m so glad we did. We are absolutely THRILLED with the results. They have an amazing selection of products, knowledgeable sales people and their installers were beyond incredible. If you are in need of any flooring products—definitely check them out.
4. Snow Day #2. The boys went to one whole day of school and then we had a second snow day. We went sledding….again. Same snow hill, lots of snow, lots of fun, and Starbucks hot chocolate and chocolate croissants after.(We are going to eventually have SCHOOL at this new school, right?)
5.Halloween. My boys usually start deciding what they want to be for Halloween in March. This year Morgan started talking about wanting to be a Scout Trooper from Star Wars–he had seen the helmet for sale on Ebay. Since just the helmet cost was over $100 I was secretly hoping he would change his mind.
But, as the month of October approached, he was still zeroed in on this plan. I’m well aware that the days of my boys wanting to dress up for Halloween are dwindling fast, but that doesn’t mean I’m willing to break the bank. It was then that inspiration struck–what if he earned it?
Grayson had also chosen a rather pricey option for what he wanted to be, so we approached the boys and told them that this year they would need to earn half the cost of their chosen costumes. They became laser focused. For several weeks I had two boys begging to do extra chores so that they could earn enough money. We came up with all sorts of ways for them to make some cash–washing our cars, doing loads of laundry, selling toys in our garage sale and JBF sale, and helping take down our pirate ship (you can read about that here).
I was so proud of how hard both of them worked and they looked great in their costumes (Scout Trooper for Morgan and Drift from Fortnite for Grayson).Halloween was a huge success. AND Super Rockstar and I got our candy tax too–Twix and Kit Kats for him. Reese’s for me.
6. Gig Weekend. It had been a couple of weeks since SofaKillers had a gig and they got to do a double (two nights in a row). I don’t know if it was because it had just been Halloween or if everyone was just in the party and dancing mood, but the place they played was PACKED! I usually am front and center on the dance floor having a good time, but it was so crowded I opted to stay on the outskirts for most of the night. The guys put on a great show as always and everyone had a good time.
I hope you have a great week!
