A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. My boys in their happy place. A few days ago Super Rockstar and I were enjoying sitting in our family room just chatting and hanging out. Our boys had disappeared downstairs and from the scraping and digging sounds I was hearing–I knew they were immersed in building something LEGO. But, I noticed a beautiful sound along with it and had to capture it. (Please excuse the atrocious mess you see in this video–the “maid” was taking the day off). It is always a sure sign of contentment and happiness in my boys when they are singing. The sounds they make when they’re doing chores and homework is not nearly as joyful.
2. Equalizer 2. If you haven’t seen this (and the first one), I highly recommend them both. Have you noticed that February is the perfect time to catch up on all the movies you missed in the theaters? It seems we spend at least a half hour trying to find something on Amazon Video or Hulu that we can agree on. It’s always exciting when we discover one we had really wanted to see and forgotten about. Denzel Washington plays the main character and there are several things to love about him–he’s kind and patient with others, he engages and really cares about those in his life, he has a special skill set for eliminating the bad guy bully’s, AND he always gives them the option to change their ways before he takes them down . What a gentleman. Makes me want to go take a few martial arts classes so I too can learn how to politely deal with the drug lords and shady folks I run across in my life.
3. Valentine’s Day. My Valentine, Super Rockstar, is SO good at showing me love every day, but he always makes Valentines Day special–even on years that we don’t get to do much. I always get a sweet card and some candy, we’ll go out for lunch or dinner, and this year he gave me a painting he had been working on–it’s one of us holding hands. Sigh. I love him so much. He has definitely set a good example for our boys too. They wanted to make cards for their Daddy as well as several others and they spent hours making special creations. Look out ladies–I have a couple of Casanova’s in the making.
4. Gig night. I think this was the first time ever that Super Rockstar had a gig ON Valentine’s Day. We had our own celebration as a family earlier in the day, but it was strange to not be going out WITH him. At one point, I just sort of pretended he was singing just to me–not to the entire crowd of people packed into Cleats West Bar and Grill. It was terribly romantic.
I hope you have a great week!
