A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Enjoying our trails. As long as it is allowed, I am going to head to my favorite trails and enjoy. The app “All Trails” is a great one to use if you’re unfamiliar with where to find good hiking/biking/walking spots in your area. Barney wasn’t particularly thrilled with our hike since: #1 I forgot his leash and had to use my scarf and #2 the snow was a bit deeper than I realized–well over my ankles and up to his….well, his…um… you know.
2.Sledding. God gave us gift with a nice dumping of spring snow. Usually by this point in the year if I ask the boys if they want to go sledding, they’re like “Nah, I’d rather stay home.” This time they were dressed and waiting in the car as soon as they heard the word “sledding”. There weren’t too many folks out, but for just a few minutes we got to sail down our favorite hill and pretend that it was just a normal snow day.
3.Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. As many of you–we are watching WAY more movies than usual right now. Even with all the streaming services, DirecTV and Redbox–we struggle to find movies that we can all agree on as a family. The other night, Super Rockstar found this one on Amazon Video. It is REALLY good. It’s a great take on the Greek gods folklore and the story of Perseus told in modern day. Uma Thurman as Medusa is fabulous! My boys were a little hesitant about it at first, but ended up loving it. Apparently there’s a couple more movies in the series to watch too. Our quarantining gave us the gift of discovering something we didn’t even know were out there.
4.Camping–Shelter in place style. We decided to set up our pop up camper in the garage just as an extra entertainment for our boys since we’re stuck at home for who knows how long. Since our temps are still pretty cold here, it’s kind of like an outdoor/indoor fort (with heating and everything). Even a few of our neighborhood kids came around (social distancing observed)to have some fun.
5.The Birthday Boy. I can’t believe Morgan turned 13 this year. I feel bad that we couldn’t have the usual party with friends that we do every year, but it was a great day of celebration. Younger brother Grayson who usually spends his brother’s birthday sobbing on and off because it’s not yet his birthday (his is in 9 days), did a great job of holding it together and making sure Morgan felt special all day. They played video games, played with all his new toys together–including the MUCH anticipated Metroplex (he’s been begging for this Transformer toy for YEARS), and then we all watched a family movie and enjoyed his favorite meal. I don’t think Super Rockstar could be more proud than he is right now–his boy loves wings almost as much as he does. In his mind he’s officially becoming a man.
I hope you have a great week! Feel free to reach out if you need anything at all–I’m here. (air hug)
