A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Puzzles. We decided to jump on the “let’s do a puzzle as a family” bandwagon. We chose one from The Mandalorain with baby Yoda (I thought Grayson was going to faint with excitement). It’s only 500 pieces, but it may just be the death of us. On our first sitting, Super Rockstar and I jumped right into doing puzzles the right way–find the corners, do the edges. Our boys, however, were all willy nilly putting together sections of the INSIDE of the puzzle. “But I want to do Baby Yoda’s eyes” Grayson insisted. What kind of commie nonsense is this? If this puzzle gets finished without all out war (and no lost pieces)–it’s gonna be a miracle.
2.Pokemon Go. One of the activities we’ve resumed with the boys is Pokémon Go!. It’s been around a long while, but my boys still think it’s a lot of fun. Oh sure they’re still looking at a screen, but at least it gets them out of the house and moving while looking at a screen. It’s an app you load on your phone that shows your neighborhood in kind of a cartoon-like version. There are dozens of Pokémon characters all throughout your neighborhood that you can “catch” using Pokeballs that you can collect (the map shows where various sites are located that you can get Pokeballs). As we speak, Super Rockstar and the boys are out “collecting” more Pokeballs for when they go Pokémon hunting later this week.
3. Movies we watched. For family movies this week–we watched a couple that we had already seen. I loved both of them and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
The first one is Jumanji 2: The Next Level. The same characters are back from the first one with several new ones to love too. It has an overuse of foul language, but the action and humor are awesome.
The second one is Call of the Wild. I loved this when we saw it in theaters and it was just as good on our home TV. It’s such a great adaptation of the beloved childhood story with great characters and beautiful scenery. It’s an awesome adventure movie that everyone can enjoy.
4. Up, up, and away. I love, love, LOVE that our nation launched astronauts into space this week. Oh my goodness! I got goosebumps as I to listened to the countdown, watched the gigantic plume of smoke and saw the rocket lift off and launch into the atmosphere. It’s a unique privilege to live in a time where such miracles of modern engineering are possible.
5. First Place–Again! Super Rockstar’s band SofaKillers has done it again. Our city has a contest each year–sponsored by our newspaper, The Gazette and citizens can vote for their favorites in numerous categories. There’s everything from restaurants to auto repair, bookstores to ice-cream shops, and even local bands. SofaKillers won the first place gold for the second year as the best local band. I’m so proud of them–they earned it! They work their butts off putting on great shows week after week that keep folks crowding the dance floor and having a great time. I can’t wait til they can get back at it again.
6. My favorite Memes this week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
*Note: If you comment on my blog page, it might take a couple of hours (days, months–haha!) to show up since I am required to approve them.
As usual, always enjoyable content…with several great laughs! I remember the puzzle days. Rarely completed one with all the pieces.
Thank you! This is our first attempt at doing a large puzzle. It’s a LOT harder than I thought it would be, but we’re having a good time so far. So help me if there are any pieces missing though….Haha
