A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1. Our favorite parks. We’ve lived in our neighborhood almost 10 years and have several parks we frequent–especially in the summer. It’s so bizarre to see my now gigantic boys effortlessly scrambling up and around play structures that seemed like such death traps when they were little.
2. A YouTube channel. My boys–Morgan in particular– have recently become interested in starting their own YouTube channel. They love to talk about their toys, demonstrate how to operate them, and give their opinions. This is their first video on their channel–Impossible Mission Kids. Just go to their channel and subscribe if you (or your kids) want to learn all about Metroplex and many other transformers and toys.
3. Morgan’s project. We’ve had a pile of old pallet wood sitting in our side yard for several years now. It was one of those–“I think I might do somethin with that someday” collections. I am so ready to get rid of all of our piles of junk, but decided to ask the boys if they wanted to build anything with the pallet wood. I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to teach about making stuff with wood, using tools, etc. Morgan knew immediately what he wanted to build–a barrier for outdoor nerf battles. It’s been fun, but two things: #1 We underestimated how many splinters one can get in working with pallet wood and #2 we underestimated how heavy pallet wood is. I have NO idea how we will be able to move it once it’s finished.
4. Kansas Trip. One of the normal things we are got to do this year is go to Grandma and Papa’s house for 4th of July weekend. We LOVE going to their house–especially in the summer. The boys love their house because it has air conditioning, reclining chairs, closets with fun games in them, lightening bugs to chase, and a POOL. The pool isn’t at their house, but in their town and it’s HUGE and glorious fun–with a high dive and slides. The water feels amazing and there is nothing better.
5. 4th of July. The other fun thing about Grandma and Papa’s house is that it’s in Kansas. I know what you’re thinking—Kansas? Fun? Well….you have a point. BUT! For 4th of July, Kansas sells legal fire works that you can enjoy exploding at your own home. Here in Colorado everything has to be done (if it’s done) on the down low. Since we are mostly law abiding citizens (don’t ask Super Rockstar about being pulled over for speeding on our trip)–we love being able to buy up firing tanks, whirly gigs, snakes (I’m the only one that loves these), sparklers (again–just me), smoke bombs, fountains, parachutes, and yes–the loud, bust your ears, don’t you dare light up one more–firecrackers. Aunt Stephie and Uncle Todd were there for all the fun of the day too. Uncle Todd and Super Rockstar are diligent about teaching my boys all about setting up proper battle scenes for the tanks (check out Super Rockstar’s epic video) and the ins and outs of exploding the fireworks carnage. We all survived with no busted eardrums and no limbs lost. I’d call that a very successful 4th of July celebration!
6. My favorite Memes of the week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
