A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Cheap Entertainment. Last week one of our neighbors had a garage sale and I scored two things I’ve been on the hunt for–a badminton set and croquet set. I got both for $5.00. You may be wondering why I would be in search for these items. Answer: I have two boys. It is late in our summer break and without the benefit of all of our normal summer adventures going on–I need as much help as I can get. New sets for these items were sold out months ago and they were also pretty pricey. This has already been an investment that has paid off many times over. They immediately set up the badminton set and have spent hours playing. Oh sure, our neighbors are starting to get a little testy about having to lob the….the uh (ahem) shuttle cocks (smirk) back over the the fence, but other than that it’s been great. They haven’t quite taken to the croquet set yet, but as soon as they realize the potential uses for the mallets that aren’t intended for the game–it’ll be a huge draw.
2. A last minute visit. My parents have been wanting to come to our house for several months so they can see all the upgrades we have added to our home. They are our biggest cheerleaders and properly ooh and ahh like no one else does. My Mom called about mid week and asked if it was ok if they just came on out. Of COURSE!! My boys LOVE when they visit because it means they get to see their two favorite people (that is besides Super Rockstar and I) AND Grandma usually brings a pan of her lasagna. I forgot to take a single photo–but just picture us sitting around either talking, eating or watching the boys do something.
3.Floor is Lava. How many of you played this game as a kid? If so, you are very familiar with what it entails–setting up an obstacle course of pillows and such to step on. If your foot touches the floor, you’re dead because it’s a sea of hot lava. There’s a new show on Netflix based on this fun childhood game. Only instead of a pretend lava floor, they have a room filled with orange colored water AND a very challenging obstacle course with many options that the teammates have to navigate across. It is REALLY fun to watch and I highly recommend it.
4. Dart Warz is open! I am SO grateful to find that some of our favorite places to go play are re-opening. Dart Warz has always been a favorite of our boys–they get to try out new nerf guns they have purchased and I love it because they shoot them at people that aren’t me. Even though they had to wear masks, they had a great time. I really appreciated that the staff was VERY generous with the time. We paid $25 for both boys to play for an hour and they ended up getting to play for about an hour and forty five minutes.
5. My Favorite Memes of the week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
