A weekly list of things accomplished, enjoyed, learned, tried and remembered.
1.Super Bowl Sunday. Watching the Super Bowl has always been a fun tradition for us. It would be an even nicer tradition if our team was one playing, but we’re Cowboys fans–not gonna happen. Since Covid restrictions are beginning to loosen up somewhat, we had some friends over to enjoy watching the game with us. Usually the commercials and the half time show are as fun to watch as the game, but this year was very “meh” in my opinion (why were they wearing underwear on their heads?). Oh well, it’s always all about the food anyway, right?
2. Brrrrr Cold. This morning when I got up, the temperature said -8 degrees. Read that again: NEGATIVE 8. Eight degree’s is too dang cold, but negative 8? Come on man. Where are we–the arctic? It feels like we’re living in a scene from Day After Tomorrow –if we step outside we will just freeze instantly where we’re standing. Anyone have a time share in Cabo they want to gift me?
3. Dart Warz to the Rescue. At least there are fun indoor places to go play now. With having to be in side 24/7 because of the cold, my boys get squirrely pretty quickly. Dart Warz is perfect for getting their aggressions and wiggles out. I’m always in favor of others being the targets of their Nerf guns.
4. Cutie-pie Diggy. My neighbor’s have a labradoodle named Diggy–he is such a cutie-pie. They had to go out of town recently and the boys and I had the privilege of checking in on him. He is the sweetest thing and we had a great time throwing his toy for him and giving lots of back scratches. He loved it. Our dog Barney, on the other hand, was NOT happy. As he sniffed my shoes when we got home, the look of betrayal on his face said it all.
5. What we watched. Super Rockstar and I watched three pretty good movies. The first one was called The Little Things. It has Denzel Washington and Rami Malek–it’s about a retired detective and the current new hot shot detective teaming up to try to catch a serial killer. There are some really good twists and turns and I enjoyed it. My only criticism is that the ending seemed incomplete.
We also watched Safe House. This one also has Denzel Washington and he plays a criminal whom the FBI catches and sends to a safe house. The guardian of the safe house is played by Ryan Reynolds. It has a lot of good action and we really enjoyed it.
And finally we watched War. It has Jet Li and Jason Statham (I love Jason Statham movies). It is a really good action movie about an FBI agent hunting down a notorious Japanese Yakuza assassin who killed his partner. It’s really good with some great plot twists.
As a family we re-watched all 3 of The Hobbit movies and have started The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I just love these movies so much. I thought my boys would be scared of the Orcs and some of the more intense action scenes (they were last time we watched), but they absolutely love them.
By myself I watched The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 and 2. I loved reading all of the books and I was very impressed at how closely the movies stuck so closely to them–I highly recommend.
6. My favorite memes of the week.
As always, I would love to hear from you. I hope you have a great week!
