It’s TIME! Garage Sale Season has begun. This has become a full-on family event for us every Saturday morning all summer long. We grab our coffee, load up in the truck and head out on our hunt. We never know what we’re going to find. So how DO you know where to look? There are 3 ways that I know of.
1. Your neighborhood. There is usually at least a dozen in our area each week. We just cruise around and look for signs. If you are thinking about hosting your own sale–here’s a post I wrote: 5 Steps To Having A Successful Garage Sale. But I feel like I must emphasize the importance of signage. For those of us who look for sales on a weekly basis–all I need is a consistent color paper with an arrow pointing me directly to your house. An address and dates of the sale are nice, but really, it’s just about being able to find your house easily. And just know–that if all you put out is a couple of signs with an address–I’m not likely going to look it up on Google maps. I’ll probably just skip your sale.
2. Community Garage Sales. These are by far my favorite. So many sales all in one area is just too hard to resist. I couldn’t find a comprehensive list of all the ones here in Colorado Springs, but here are the ones I know of coming up in June.
May 31 & June 1st–Wolf Ranch
June 1st–Gold Hill Mesa
June 8th–Cordera
June 14th & 15th–Indigo Ranch
June 15–Westside Community Center Saleabration
June 22–Pinecliff
June 22–Old North End
I know there are so many more, so please feel free to chime in on any that you know of that I (and everyone else) would LOVE to hear about.
3. Craigslist. It’s a good resource for finding out where to find garage sales as well as estate sales (which is also a favorite of ours). I also just learned about a site called Garage Sale Finder. I’ve never used it but will probably give it a whirl.
So far this season, I’ve scored some Christmas decor (no. there is never enough) and kitchen stuff (I got a new-in-the-box Ninja air fryer for a steal) Super Rockstar has gotten several gadgets and frames that he’s always searching for, Grayson found several toys–he also is the best at getting things for way cheaper and even for free. I need to find out his secret. And Morgan scored a great deal on an awning. It’s a fabulous way to spend time together as a family AND score some great deals on stuff we may or may not need.
