We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1.Yellowstone–Season 5. Oh my. Just when you think–“okay, the Dutton’s land should be safe from all trying to take it”. Nope. What I’m loving about this season so far, is that they are showing a lot more of the “ranching life”–cattle drives, branding and the cowboying stuff. There’s a couple of characters that I’m not fond of–that it wouldn’t break my heart for them to go the way of the “train station”, but overall it’s been good. I’m really rooting for the Dutton’s–I just hope that Beth doesn’t have to go all crazy town again.
2. The Proposal. I had some time on my own one evening and stumbled across this romantic comedy with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds from 2009. She is a tough chief editor of a publishing company, and he is her assistant. When she finds out she’s about to be deported back to Canada, she blackmails her assistant to marry her. Even though the story line was pretty predictable (she’s not as heartless and tough as she seems, there’s more to him than meets the eye and they eventually fall in love)–I really enjoyed it. It’s rated PG-13–there’s some foul language and some adult content (you can read the parent guide here).
3. Spirited. We found out you can stream this for no additional charge with your Apple+ subscription. It’s a great adaptation of the “Scrooge” story with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. We absolutely LOVED it. It’s a musical–so be prepared for lots of singing and dancing, but it’s just wonderful. Great story, great songs and an overall delightful movie. I was also impressed that there’s not much foul language (several uses of “Good Afternoon”–you’ll have to see the movie to understand. Haha). It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here). This one will most definitely be added to my annual ‘Christmas movies I want to watch list’.
4. Violent Night. Super Rockstar and I going out for a date night to see this. It has David Harbour (from Stranger Things) playing Santa. He is down in the dumps because of all the selfishness and unbelief going on in the world, when he finds himself inside the home of a wealthy family delivering gifts that is overtaken by thieves. He also finds that there is a little girl who is a true believer in Santa, and he is determined to help her. The title says it all. It is a very violent, bloody, and action-packed movie. There are some gruesome deaths and Santa looks like he’s been on the losing side of a boxing match throughout. Like so many of these: Die Hard, Fatman, etc.–we loved it, but I don’t recommend for kids at all. It’s rated R and it’s not a kid’s movie.
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
