December is always packed full of all the Christmas movies we enjoy re-watching. We also got to see a few new ones and I’ll let you know our reviews on those. But for the Christmas ones–I’ll just give you the links. They’re some of our favorites and we always squeeze in as many as we can.
1. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. I am not a fan of horror. At all. Super Rockstar doesn’t mind it, and whereas my boys don’t watch any other horror movies, they both love horror-based video games. Morgan has a YouTube channel (@glennboi16). He records himself (and often his brother) playing the games–complete with screams of terror at all he jump scares. It makes for good video. Anyway, back to the movie. I had no intention of watching this one in the theater, but they begged and I went. It wasn’t so bad. Not so much different than some of the more intense action movies I enjoy. Since I don’t really understand the whole Five Nights at Freddy’s world–I will just inform you that the boys both liked it. Super Rockstar and I had a lot of questions about the story–which they answered with a lot of teenage eye rolling. We’ll just leave it at that. It’s rated PG-13.

2. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Super Rockstar and I got to see this in the theater (we have loved all the Knives Out movies–Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc is fantastic). We both really enjoyed it. I was apprehensive because the story revolves around a murder taking place in a small Catholic church. I worried there might be a lot of sacrilegious themes and even blasphemy. It teetered on the edge at times, but overall, I didn’t find myself offended. It’s a good story and good mystery. We watched it again with our boys at home (it’s included with Netflix) and enjoyed it even more the second time around. The boys thought it was ok. It’s rated PG-13.

3. Ballerina. This is a John Wick side story. He’s in it, but only briefly. The story revolves around a young girl whose father is killed in front of her. She is placed in an academy where she learns to be a trained killer and seeks her revenge when she is older. It’s very good. Super Rockstar and I really enjoyed it. We aren’t ready for our boys to see these movies just yet. They’re all rated R and the bloody violence is nearly constant throughout.

4. Christmas with the Chosen: Holy Night. We have loved The Chosen series and saw that they had a Christmas special that was focused on the birth of Jesus. What we didn’t know was that it was more like a music special with a short film about the birth of Jesus. It was good–just not what we were expecting. There are a lot of Christian music artists singing before and after the film. The film itself is good.

9. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

12. Christmas with the Kranks.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that the New Year brings you many blessings.
