We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1.Moonfall. This is one of those movies that will go down in history as one we wished we hadn’t paid full movie theater prices for. That being said–it was at the very least entertaining. As if the idea of the moon falling to earth isn’t crazy enough–hold on to your hats. That is NOT the most bizarre part of this movie. The CGI is very impressive and the wildness of the story is enough to keep you thinking throughout–“what could they possibly do next?!” It’s rated PG-13 –there are some curse words and intense action at times (you can read the parent guide here).
2. Ozark. Season 4 is now available on Netflix. We decided to re-watch the whole series from the beginning and I’m so glad we did. The lengths that this family has to go to ensure not being killed by a Mexican drug cartel that they have been forced to launder money for is insane. The tension keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think “ah. I can breath now.” Nope. Something else happens. It is a very creative story, but it has a lot of darkness too. It’s rated TV-MA and absolutely not for kiddos. There’s a lot of explicit language (Ruth uses the F-bomb in the most creative combinations–often paired with other cuss words), there is explicit sexual scenes, and there is a lot of explicit violence.
3. The Olympics. Have you all been enjoying watching the Olympics? There are several sports that I try to catch–Curling being one of them. I would have never guessed that watching someone sliding a heavy stone down a lane of ice (in a lunge position that would leave me stuck for life), whilst two teammates follow said stone down the lane, scrubbing vigorously with brooms (makes me want to hire them to come clean my kitchen floor) to ensure the right path so it hits the target precisely (or house–as I have learned is the proper term)–could be so exciting to watch? I find myself yelling out–“Scrub! Scrub like the wind!” My other favorites are the snowboarding half pipe, ski jumping, the biathlon (I get exhausted just thinking about that one. Seriously, who has the energy to cross country ski that distance and then, oh yeah. You need to shoot and make five targets?), the luge, skeleton, and bobsledding. I think what I love the most about watching men and women compete at the highest level of their sport is how much I want them to succeed. Plus, it’s the whole ‘American Spirit’ thing–when one of our athletes wins gold and they play our national anthem–it just makes me feel very, very proud.
4. Death on the Nile. I absolutely couldn’t WAIT to watch this movie, so Super Rockstar took me to see it for Valentine’s Day. I am a huge Agatha Christi fan and love all of her characters tremendously. This is one of the few books of hers I haven’t read, so the ‘who dun it?’ was a mystery to me. I loved the whole movie. I think Kenneth Branagh does a great job playing Hercule Poirot (he’s also the director). The casting is perfect, the cinematography is beautiful and…did I mention I loved it? I loved the whole thing. It’s rated PG-13. There are a few cuss words and some seductive dancing, but no nudity (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
