We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Uncharted. We absolutely LOVED this movie. It’s a treasure hunt adventure with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as the main characters. There are so many great scenes–including a fantastic pirate ship battle that happens in the air. That’s all I’ll give away, but trust me–this is one you’ll want to see. It’s rated PG-13 and there were no adult type scenes and the foul language was pretty minimal (you can read the parent guide here).
2. The Spiderwick Chronicles. We found this movie on Netflix when searching for a good family movie. It’s a about a hidden world of fairies, trolls, and all sorts of mystical creatures. A man discovers and writes a detailed book about all the creatures he encounter–and when he disappears, he is assumed to be dead. Fast forward to modern day–his great grand children have moved into his former home and discover the book. By reading it, the hidden world is opened up to them and they are exposed to the more dangerous creatures who want to steal the book so they can use it to destroy all those they want to. It has kind of a Harry Potter, magical feel. It’s rated PG, but younger ones might get scared of some of the creatures (you can read the parent guide here). The acting’s not great, but it’s an entertaining movie.
3. X-Men: First Class. This is a pre-qual in the X-Men movie series. It’s how Dr. Xavier gets his start and the beginnings of many of the core characters of the series. It’s a great back story movie and has lots of good actions scenes as well. It’s rated PG-13. The character known as Mystique wears her traditional blue body paint–which leaves nothing to the imagination and there is a scene with women in lingerie. The foul language is pretty mild (you can read the parent guide here).
4. Space Force. This is a sit com TV series that streams on Netflix. It has Steve Carell as a 4 star general of Space Force–a space exploration branch of the military. John Malkovich plays a scientist and there are so many loveable characters. It’s now in it’s 2nd season and we absolutely love it. It’s rated TV-MA–so not for kids.
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
