We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Joe Pickett: Season 2. This is a series streaming on Paramount+ about a fish and game warden in a small town in Wyoming. Who knew it could be one of the most dangerous jobs to have? He and his family are in constant peril as he encounters poachers, murderers, and corrupt town leaders. And he is often playing dual roles as a fish and game warden and making sure that the local police do their jobs. Season 2 is really good and takes his job to a whole new level when several well-known hunters are being hunted down and killed. Some of the acting is great–most are actors you’ve never heard of–but there are some really great characters too and it makes for a very enjoyable show. It’s rated TV-14 and there’s quite a bit of violence and blood (you can read the parent guide here).
2.Only Murders in the Building: Season 3. This is such a delightful show–with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. They are tenants in a swanky New York City apartment and–in Season 1–discover they all adore listening to the same true crime pod cast. A tenant is murdered in their building and they decided to try to solve the crime themselves and start their own podcast. This season the initial murder takes place elsewhere, but now it’s happened in the building again. I absolutely love all the characters and can’t wait to find out “who dun it” in this season. It’s rated TV-MA.
3. Meg 2: The Trench. Super Rockstar and I got to catch this in the theater last weekend. I’ll be honest–I liked the first one better. As it is with so many sequels–the writers will often try to recreate what worked in the first one, but it often seems campy and corny when recycled. There are some good parts here and there, but when Jason Statham is the best actor in a movie–things are not well. The Megs (there are now three) and a surprise guest have broken through the barrier and are on the hunt. There are great stunts and a lot of humor. I’d give it a solid B- if I’m being honest. Enjoyable, but not great. It’s rated PG-13 and I don’t think it would have been too scary for our boys to watch. Again, it’s a lot along the lines of scariness and even bloodiness as the Jurassic World movies (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
