We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Lawmen: Bass Reeves. This is a new show on Paramount +. It’s about a post-civil war African American man who earns a deputy U.S. Marshal position in Arkansas. There’s a lot of drama and has kind of an old west feel to it. We are really enjoying it so far. It’s rated TV-MA.
2. The Monuments Men. This is a really good movie from 2014 with George Clooney, Matt Damon, and several other notable actors. It’s based on a true story of a platoon of historians, artists, architects and the like that are tasked with protecting and recovering stolen artifacts during WWII. It’s really good and one of those: “I had no idea that really happened” type of stories. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here.)
3. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. We’ve seen these movies so many times, but it was extra special this time. We gifted ourselves a 75″ TV and new surround sound system for Christmas. The boys had just watched the first Hobbit movie and so we decided to christen the new TV by watching the 2nd one. WOW! This movie us great no matter what size the screen, but with rumbling sound that we could feel in our chests and a huge screen up close and personal? Well, it doesn’t get much better. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
