We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1.Napoleon. Super Rockstar and I got to have a date night to see this at our local Imax theater. It’s cinematically beautiful and a great historical accounting of the life of Napoleon Bonaparte. I thought Joaquin Phoenix gave a great performance as Napoleon and I loved the big battle scenes and learning so much about his brilliance in strategy. It’s rated R–there’s a lot of adult content and bloody battle scenes.
2.Sherlock. We are rewatching this TV series and loving it all over again. I am a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan and in this series, he’s played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman plays Watson. There are only 4 seasons with only about 3 shows per season but the episodes are about 90 minutes long–almost like a movie. These came out in 2010 and rated TV-14 (you can read the parent guide here). I highly recommend this.
3. Knight and Day. This is a movie I can watch over and over–one of my all-time favorites. It’s Tom Cruise playing a spy whose being sabotaged and accused of wrongdoing by his superiors as well as being chased by thieves trying to steal some technology he is trying to protect. He meets June (Cameron Diaz) on a flight as she is trying to make it to her sister’s wedding. But she gets swept up in the chase and he must protect her. We watched it with our boys. They said they didn’t like it, but seemed to be thoroughly enjoying it the whole time we were watching it. I think they just didn’t care for all the romance aspects of the movie. My parents were here visiting and had never seen it either. They loved it. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear our opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
