We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Gilmore Girls. I watched this TV series for the first time about 5 years ago and LOVED it. I guess I was just needing something lighthearted during this stressful time of year. So, on the evenings when Super Rockstar has gigs, and my boys are watching a movie I’m not interested in–I watch a couple of episodes. It’s really good–about a single Mom raising her teenage daughter in a cute town. It has wonderful characters, playful banter and just an overall feel-good story. It’s rated TV-PG (you can read the parent guide here).
2. The Hunger Games. I watched all the movies a couple of years ago and really enjoyed them. Recently, Grayson has been asking to watch them, but Morgan has no interest. So, since he and I had a night–just us (big brother got a job) –we watched the first one. He was intrigued and liked it overall. He only left the room once during a cringy young love kissing scene and he also didn’t care for a couple of the death scenes –saying they were a little disturbing. It’s a story about a society where an uprising many years previous had caused a huge slaughter. So the government established a “reminder” of such to keep the people more subdued. Each district has to sacrifice 2 of their young adults to compete in the Hunger Games and fight to the death. Only one can win. It’s a little brutal at times and has some disturbing content here and there. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here). He really wants to read the books now too, so I’m sure I’ll be rewatching the whole series and hopefully getting to see the new movie that just came out.
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
