We are a family that loves movies and TV shows. Each week I’ll share what we watched and what we thought about them. I hope it will give you good insight and even some ideas if you’re stuck finding something new.
1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. This is part 2 of the series. Under Caesars leadership–the apes now have their own colony in the mountains. Most of the human population has been wiped out from a virus caused by the treatment that caused the apes to mutate in the first place. There is a fragile peace that exists between them, but it all comes apart when some a group of apes rebel against Caesar and start a war against him and the human colony nearby. The boys liked this one better–mostly because the apes talked more…and there were battles. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
2. War for the Planet of the Apes. In this part 3–A military group has been called in to wipe out the apes. Led by The Colonel (Woody Harrelson) –he inadvertently kills Caesar’s wife and older son when he is trying to take out Caesar. The rest of the ape colony is sent away while he and his closest friends go after The Colonel. Unfortunately, the ape colony is captured and enslaved and now Caesar and his friends must free them. This is probably my favorite because I love so many of the characters. Maurice–an orangutan–is so gentle, wise and compassionate. And a new character, Bad Ape, is a great comic relief. We all enjoyed this one. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
3. Jack Reacher. This is such a good movie. It has Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher who is a former army major with incredible investigating (and butt kicking) kills. A mass shooting where five seemingly random people are taken out by a sniper leads to the arrest of one man who won’t say a word to the police–but asks for Jack Reacher. It’s a really good action/thriller movie. We all really enjoyed it. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
4. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. In this one Reacher attempts to help a colleague who has been framed for murder. He gets in the middle of it and is also framed and on the run from some very vicious people with a lot of power. It’s another great action/thriller that we all enjoyed. It’s rated PG-13 (you can read the parent guide here).
I would love to hear your opinions and any suggestions you may have of what to watch.
